Oxford weren't exactly flying when we played them. Exeter could have been a very different score if Ward wasn't MOM and we scored a wonder goal. Portsmouth and Bolton fair enough. The league table doesn’t lie, we beat a good Oxford side who drew 3 days later 2-2 with Pompey. But I’m not here to argue, I’m disappointed like all of us, because we’ve seen Trolls, DC and Barton sides make incredible run in promotion pushes, the fans, this forum, get carried away. Ed Hadwin asked me 3 weeks ago on Having a Gas if we could make the plays offs and I said no, I said the squad was too weak and we were hoodwinked. All those sides in league 2 where we usually have one of the higher budgets. This side is average. Has been since August, it’ll win some against good teams and lose some against bad teams. This place will go up and down like a yo-yo with the results, as it always has but I do think Taylor made mistakes tonight. Clearly doesn’t rate Brown if he’s bringing on defenders before him.

That’s me done for the MTD’s this season then, as per the other thread, never look further than your next game. It’ll always come and bite you. Echoes of the recent Blackpool/Exeter home double header where we binned 6 points away. Another 3 tonight and a chance to close the gap on Stevenage to 9. Very disappointing. & no Martin on Saturday to cap it all off. The bonus is no Martin, at least we will have eleven players on the pitch. In that respect, a chance to try something different. But I imagine it’ll be Marquis up top as the obvious natural replacement.

Such a frustrating game. Fleetwood hit the crossbar in the first half and I thought (hoped) that was a let-off.. then we just fell asleep for their first. Had high hopes we would sort things out 2nd half, but that goal from a corner totally sucked the life out of us... was just huffing & puffing after that.
Fair play to the 20 or so Fleetwood fans that made the effort to travel such a long distance on a Tuesday night. They made their voices heard.
Where was Shaun Rooney tonight BTW? Although the guy that scored the first goal was a bit of a Banned word with his celebrations in front of the Blackthorn End :-|

Re Brown, he could have did we did at Rotherham but his club and Taylor did the right thing and waited to see if he was guilty of hitting a women, they had morals and we never.
Next season we will see a true Rovers Matt Taylor side, this is still like a terrible hangover but with alcohol poisoning and still being sick a day later!

We looked like gazelles on ice tonight only Thomas able to run with the ball, but nobody to pass to. Maybe we missed Finley as we looked completely disjointed and clueless.

That’s the problem, we had a transfer window and got no other attacking threat in, I like Marquis, I like his effort, just wish he could score. Perhaps if Hunts fit we play him up top, he can finish and is rare in our squad, he has pace. Missed Finley and Ward so much tonight, Children in midfield alongside Evans and Thomas tonight.

Look at his career and other than a decent 6 months at this level for Exeter before being suspended and it’s hardly surprising. Get rid in summer along with a load of others.

It called for simple football tonight, we gave possession away repeatedly by trying to be too clever. Not enough options for players on the ball and Fleetwood suffocated us when we tried to spread it. Their number 5 bossed the midfield and too many of ours had poor games. I agree we missed Finley

Pi55 poor. Trying to play a passing game on the floor in those conditions was just plain stupid. What’s with bringing on 3 defenders when you’re 2-0 down at home ? Brown might as well pack his bags if he can’t even get a go in a game like that.
Wish I hadn’t already bought a ticket for Saturday 🙄

Totally agree we need pace, Barton’s gone, I was never a fan, Taylor’s come in and I’m not a fan either tbh, pace is needed. To bring Friend and Grant on when two nil down at home is shambolic, I can understand Gordon as he is quicker than most in our team.

This thread started with people making score predictions of a Rovers win. For the love of God, can this be the last time? Please.

Only one team played the conditions and are deservedly getting the three points. We have kept on trying tippy tappy passing which at best works on a good pitch, but definately doesn’t work on a surface like tonight’s. All we have achieved is to throw away 3 points and ruin our pitch and stupidly got a red card. Spot on. Thing is under Taylor we’ve generally moved away from the slow motion passing out from the back and looked so much better for it . So tonight in a monsoon when the ball isn’t rolling Taylor decides that’s the way forward ? Just don’t get it.

Absolute sh*te! Terrible team selection, game plan, game management and substitutions. That's what you get. If I was Aguilera I'd be wanting to go back to Forest ASAP. You've got an absolute gem of an attacking talent, being asked to play just in front of the back 4. Wasted. Pathetic. Good job we didn't ask Elliot Anderson to play the Makelele role! If this is the Football we are going to be served up the majority of the time under Matt Taylor then I ain't interested. I'm sure I'm not alone. To be fair this was more like Barton ball tonight than they way weve been playing under Taylor and we’ve won our last two not playing that way but Bu playing a more typical league 1 team style of football mixing it up and with a quick tempo. Which begs the question why did Taylor go with the tactics and players he started in the game tonight in such conditions. It was clear on the first few minutes that our game plan was to give the ball to Aguilara as a quarter back so he could dictate play , and I think most and myself included thought well this ain’t gonna work. Bizarre.

Just got back in the car . Got to say of all the nights to switch so a slow patient possession build up tonight was obviously not the night. Taylor got this horribly wrong. Why start Vaughn he’s a tiny winger this was never going to be his game. Really poor tonight it was like having Barton back playing in slow motion. Aguilara had to be pushed further forwards I can’t believe he didn’t change the things that were obviously wrong. Awful. Still think we'll make the Playoffs with the 50 (oops I mean 48 points) to play for? I said three games ago we’d need 2 points a game on average until the end of the season to have a chance and we’ve taken 6 from those three. Also I didn’t say we’d do it I said there was a chance.

Bizarre. He went and loved Barton’s 17th finish, this bloke secretly enjoys it when we lose now and even BettyBlue is being positive. Give man a break, he inherited a terrible squad, we have players and several who can’t play twice a week, it’s crippling.

It's the same old this season.
When we play a team that's direct, in our faces and like a fight, together with being particularly route one, we can't cope. Squad isn't tough enough and isn't good enough and I can't wait for MT to rid us of some of the dross that JB signed.
Fair play to Fleetwood, absolutely did a job on us tonight and deserved 3 points.
