If everyone could stop being so ruddy bi-polar after every match it would be a start. We are ,and have been since August, a mid table third tier side. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less. We have yet to put together a run of three straight wins all season. The previous permanent manager set us up to play pretty football, but forgot that at this level there are lots of teams who prefer to play a simpler, more physical game with a win at all costs approach. Especially those with less resources than us. We have struggled to compete in any of these games all season. At the other end there are half a dozen teams with bigger resources, bigger fan bases and a lot more spending power. All of these have played in the Prem at some point. Bar gambling and potentially putting the club into administration (or as I like to call it, doing a Swindon) it’s going to be hard to compete financially with these. Also it has been historically hard to attract players to Bristol from places like London and the North West. There have been faults from all three managers this season, as well as individual player errors. The seeming lack of desire against both Exeter and Fleetwood at home compared to opposition who a fighting to stay up I found worrying. The lack of an out and out goalscorer has hamstrung us all season. I genuinely don’t believe JCH is the magic solution to this, and Martin has done well to paper over the cracks, but this is the absolute priority this summer. In conclusion let’s just accept we are where we are, and to progress it’s going to need a change in personnel and mindset through the off season. I trust Taylor totally in this, he has previous success with both Exeter and Rotherham to achieve this. But we as fans really need to temper our reactions, as it just becomes exhausting to be so up or down all the time. As someone who has Mental Health issues maybe we need some collective CBT? Good post, but lets be honest not realistic. This is how football fans behave its our very nature we can't change what we are.

Very good post - true, it is absolutely exhausting jumping from elation to despair on a regular basis - a bit of ‘chill’ would be no bad thing !!!! UTG 💙 Absolutely agree,I am as passionate as anyone about the Gas but sometimes you just have to chill and be a bit objective about who and what we are,our history shows we spend most of our time in this division and the one below,if we get to the Championship there's folk who will be up and down on an hourly basis!!

Its one thing not having been in the 2nd tier for so long, but we never even seem to be in a position to challenge the top places in L1. It's even more annoying when the likes of Wycombe, Lincoln, Fleetwood and Stevenage have been up there in recent times. Even Yeovil have been there more recently than us.

Only Wycombe have actually got promoted? Problem with Rovers is there is no long term planning, the owners talked a lot of sense 6 or so months ago about developing The Quarters etc but have been totally silent since, perhaps they'll disclose more at this month's Q&A.

A Southern League club when I first started watching us.

Like Yeovil it was just a bit of a fluke they got promoted, not some long term plan, I guess that's the issues facing the owners, some of the fan base want a long term plan, others just want us to loan as many players as we can just to get promoted for one season.

Resigned to accepting a mixture of good and bad performances for the remainder of this season. Hopefully MT will get the required backing to re-build in the summer, and we go again.

Personally I’m for the former( long term plan, develop our own players ) 👍💙utg

I'd take a fluke at the moment to be honest. Would be nice to at least have a season where we are challenging at the top end even if we dont go up

With our present owners, who ever they are, its going to be a long wait, yet again, before we get any where near the play-offs yet alone promotion. We are at the moment absolute sh** and looks that for a few years yet.

We'd never even been in the basement league for a long time after I started watching the gas, now our recent biggest achievements have been promotions from 1-2 divisions below It's just not good enough.

A week ago we were dreaming of a late run to the play offs, now we're absolute sh** after just one defeat, until we see how the summer pans out then it's bit earlier to say we're going nowhere for years.

UTG 💙 If we're going to be mid table I prefer the roller coaster ride. Mid table with lots of draws and 1-0 and 0-1 results are dull. It's a bit like the yo yo sides in various divisions, which has also been us a bit in recent years. The despair of relegation is more than compensated for by the joy of promotion. It must be exciting being a West Brom, Norwich or Sheffield United fan. Imagine the elation of getting to the Premier League like Brighton and becoming steady eddies, basically losing must games but not enough to go down. Must get a bit tedious after a while. More inconsistency please. 👍

I for one was not dreaming or even hoping for a miracle of a play-off place. It will be the same as next year just as the previous years gone by. I do hope the new owners will invest in the team and stadium, where ever it is.
