Looked awful tonight, the other team in the city had 3 games on theirs on a single weekend and it’s much better than ours. We had a decent pitch a few seasons ago not sure if we’ve changed groundsman but our pitch is terrible and has been for a while now

We had a decent pitch a few seasons ago not sure if we’ve changed groundsman but our pitch is terrible and has been for a while now It didn’t really churn up , there was standing water but driving home the roads were flooded everywhere so I don’t see how standing water on a pitch in a monsoon is the groundsmans fault.

If it had been a mud Bath then yeah in this day and age there’s no excuses for that at professional level but I didn’t think it looked muddy , the players weren’t covered in mud.

Thought the pitch looked good given the circumstances.
If it had started in the condition it ended it would have been called off. Not because of the way it’s being kept but simply due to the amount of rain.
I had to clear a gully which had blocked up when I got home as my patio was turning into a river!

You don’t live at the top of Jacobs wells road do you ? It was like a running river down that , 10 miles an hour in 2nd gear it was like driving down a waterfall . Pitch held up well. Shame about the team tika taka in a monsoon v a tough league 1 side in a relegation battle was never going to end well.

Lets be fair. not having any of the games called off recently - either due to rain or the freeze is pretty impressive. Of course it will churn up when pouring for the entire game. Shame it wasnt called off mind.

If there is one positive from this season our groundsman have done an incredible job.
Frozen conditions monsoon conditions still playable.
More so than previous seasons I can think of at least one game being called off.

Daryl and his staff work tirelessly on that pitch, the training ground is like carpet, the Gloucester road river was tidal, thought it was the Avon boar! It will be ripped up again in May, they do an amazing job and surprised at any criticism.

Pitch held up well, yes there was surface water, same for both sides, unfortunately only one side were up for playing on it and the other side were feeling sorry for themselves and got what they deserve, truly beaten and then whimpered off and moaned.

Looks worse on highlights than it did at the Mem, wish it had been postponed though. It was that bad a few people I know on East Terrace left even before Fleetwood scored the first!

We had a decent pitch a few seasons ago not sure if we’ve changed groundsman but our pitch is terrible and has been for a while now You clearly cannot have been around when Rovers were first playing at the Mem. The pitch is light years away from what it was even ten years ago, clearly the rugby moving away has helped. The sort of rain we had yesterday would have seen the pitch flooded long before kick-off. Twenty years ago you would have found supporters forking the pitch to assist the groundsman when there was heavy rain, but because of the changes made that is no longer necessary. The current groundsman and his team do a brilliant job. Kind regards John Malyckyj

(Mind you given the football played on it last night might have been for the best…. )

Can’t blame the pitch for last nights debacle. 7 league one and two games played last night, two called off because of weather and one abandoned after 7 minutes or so.
