"Sin-bins could be introduced in professional football if football's rulemakers' plans are given the go ahead, Sky Sports News understands. The International Football Association Board [IFAB] will publish the detailed protocols for the trials on Friday. The new ruling is expected to include referees dishing out blue cards. In the trials, refs will have the power to send players off for 10 minutes for dissent or cynical fouls. IFAB is set to give the go ahead for the extended sin-bin trial in senior levels of the game at its annual meeting in March. There have already been trials in amateur and youth football in both England and Wales." news.sky.com/story/footballs-rulemakers-set-to-introduce-blue-cards-for-sin-bins-13066916

Been used for a few years now in local football.Gets slightly complicated if the player in question is on a yellow card already so people don't know if it's ten or 15 minutes etc. Also when down to ten-or less- teams simply pack their defences until they are back to a full complement of players. There was also a trial in the Conference for one season of no off-side from free kicks. Reffed at Kettering and a lino wrongly flagged for off-side from a free kick so after the deluge of protests I explained we would re take it as the ball was moving!!!!!!!!

Will that lead to more time wasting? Works in Rugby because clock is stopped in various situations. Also they have the shot clock to move play on.

Absolute heap of crap. Just like the bloody VAR nonsense. There are more important things to be bothered about, with referees not being able to stick to current rules. Why don't they just leave the game alone?

Agree with T Bone on this, lets just leave the game as it is and still reley on the ref for his verdict. Easy easy.

There are more important things to clamp down on. Probably the biggest annoyance for fans is how blatant cheating gets rewarded by referees. Any clear and deliberate diving and feigning of injury (if missed by the matchday officials) should be dealt with retrospectively and minimum three match ban. Until something like that is introduced managers will continue to turn a blind eye or keep encouraging these “dark arts”.

Such a simple game being more and more complicated. Because players cheat Every rule change or directive immediately sees the managers thinking how they can manipulate it and use it to their own advantage. For example referees are told to play on if it’s not a very serious injury or a head injury - head injury being a hot topic with dementia links. So something brought in with the best intentions and player welfare at the heart of it simply sees managers instructing players to hold their heads and lie motionless to get the game stopped. A despicable attitude in the circumstances. Another one is players just deciding to sit on their arse around the 65th minute to enable a drink break and tactical team talk opportunity for the manager.

There was an incident towards the end of the Exeter home match, when their keeper went down and the ref got sucked in, the keeper turned around and laughed at the fans in the South Stand. Also when a player gets injured a yard away from the touchline, get the bugger off the pitch to receive attention, don't call the trainer on and waste even more sodding time.

Bring it on Oh and start enforcing the keeper 6 sec rule too. Agree 100%, what's all this crap with keepers falling down when making easy catches? Bloody annoys the hell out of me. Is the 6 second rule still in the rule book? Because I haven't seen it enforced for many many years.

Perhaps if the crowd continually counted the seconds a keeper holds onto the ball may remind the ref. Think the rule still exists. Would be fun to see some indirect free kicks on the penalty area.

Have said it on here before, keeper needs the trainer on? Leave the pitch same as everyone else before coming back on. Unfortunate for those who genuinely need treatment, but will sort the cheats out immediately.

I think keepers time wasting and the 6 second rule is one of the things Pierluigi Collina’s IFAB group are looking at.

I was counting the seconds of how long the oppo keeper was taking a few weeks ago when we were 1-0 down , the shortest time was 14 seconds and in one situation he held the ball for 19 seconds and the ref didn’t book him.

There was a situation last season where Martinelli for Arsenal got injured one yard inside the touchline. He shuffled off the pitch to get treatment but Arteta pushed him back on and the referee fell for it and stopped the game. It’s these “dark arts” shyte that the likes of Mourinho, Arteta and Diego Simeone have brought to the game and need eradicating. Cheating- nothing more, nothing less.
