It’s a squad lacking in certain areas, we do have some leaders but not enough particularly at the moment as Finley and Taylor are out. Theres nowhere near enough pace in the squad , Thomas and Vale are fairly quick but that’s about it. The squad lacks physicality, the signing of Conteh was exactly what we needed but we need more of his kind in the summer. We have signed too many either injury prone or old players that were always likely to have problems as the season wore on over the winter months. We do have some good players but until we put right these wrongs it’s very unlikely we’ll keep a fit healthy squad long enough to put any kind of run together. Having said that we’re mid table in league 1 so we are better than we’ve been for the majority of the last 20 odd years so it’s not all bad is it. I also feel that Taylor can see what our weaknesses are and will do his best to put them right and turn us in to a tough league 1 type team capable of pushing for the top 6 next season. It’s really hard to judge him so far but I think he’s probably done better than Barton would have with the amount of injuries he’s had to deal with and the fact that he’s basically the third manager we’ve had this season, when that happens clubs usually go in to free fall and that hasn’t happened to be fair. It’s been a very turbulent season and usually that results in relegation but it looks almost certain that won’t happen so we’ve got to take the positives stick with this manager and look forwards. I’ll be judging him after the first few games next season when we really see what a Matt Taylor side with a top half league 1 budget looks like. The current lot is Matt Taylor trying to juggle the problems of a squad left over from a previous manager.

I think you’re taking me too literally, mate. Clearly I couldn’t play against Gordon at my age. I was making the point that his one footedness makes him very easy to defend against. For what it’s worth, I think getting Matt Taylor was a bit of a coup. But he needs time and a couple of windows to produce his own team. What people forget, is that if everything in the garden had been rosy, the previous manager wouldn’t have been sacked. Mate? Never met you Have a word with yourself.

Not sure if anyone else answered this yet, it was Northampton at home in October. Since then he's started 9 League games and we have W0 D1 L8...and not much of a better record over the same period when he comes off the bench - W3 D1 L1 (but for two of the wins he came on in the 89th min so effectively W1 D1 L1...) Being fair to him, up to and including Northampton at home in October as a starter he was P7 W3 D1 L3 and P6 W2 D3 L1 from the bench. To be fair to Grant he always seems to be used as a stop gap when we desperate, either at CB, DCM or LB, perhaps he just needs to man up and tell MT he's only going to play in his favoured position, whatever that is now? Assuming he leaves in the summer then it'll be interesting to see if he can rediscover his form elsewhere. Grant was a real athlete a couple of years ago but his injuries seem to have taken their toll. I watched him closely when I saw us play away at Barnsley and he can’t accelerate quickly after turning and therefore is pretty easy for opposition players to lose. Maybe with time and a proper pre-season he might get some of that power back but like you say, it’s likely to be at another club.

Plenty of us here have seen Rovers consistently beat them and finish higher in the league. Do they currently have better facilities and a owner who throws a lot of money at them ? Yes - is it possible that we can end up in the same league as them and beat them - of course it is. More importantly most of the people that support Rovers do so through love, family tradition or supporting the team that plays in their community or nearest to their home. Can't deny if you turn up in Bristol with no love or passion and just want to watch a game you are likely to go over there, but that so does not make us second to them.

They’ve stopped going to see the 82ers now but are going to take in more games at the Mem. I think where we miss out to them is where older fans looking to take their kids or mrs to a game would probably prefer the 82ers because the toilets are cleaner , you can sit down etc.
