Assuming their wages would be about the same, who would you take for next season, CM or JCH? CM for me particularly as it was mooted that JCH was asking for £12/15k a week from Charlton. No brainer.

Definitely keep Chris Martin and Definitely get shot of John Marquis going into next season.

Apart from scoring lots of goals, what does he actually do?! Incredible hold up and link up play, some of the best stuff we have seen since Lambert.

No brainer, longer term benefit has to be as a striker coach. Does anybody know if he is he doing his UEFA badges?

Chris Martin is a hat trick behind being top scorer for the division, Starting two months behind everyone else & not having a pre-season.

CM's minutes per goal of 121 is the best in the football league!
If he keeps that rate up then the odds of 14/1 to be top scorer look very generous.

Brilliant professional who works tirelessly. I would give him 18 months now with a view to coaching younger forwards. I expect Taylor will have scope to bring in 3 forwards to replace Loft Collins and sad to say Marquis . Probably by the sound of it the players will be under 22. This is were Martin comes in. I would call him in the office on Monday and offer him 18 months with a view to a coaching role long term ( see above ) . We got to be careful someone don't come him and offer him an incredible deal in the summer.

A true sharp shooter! To be fair he’s done a lot better than I thought he’d do. He’s also looking a lot fitter in the last few games. Total respect to him . Mightily impressive!

He didn't score in his first 4 matches either.
Plus didn't play until the very end of September after we'd already played 8 games.
His GPG and MPG is quite remarkable.
What a signing he has been.

LOL he'd probably take it as an insult if we only offered him 6 months more than his present contract! I think we need to see if he can keep scoring next season, and also keep fit, before offering him an extension for the following season, as he's not getting any younger.

He is a fantastic footballer who has worked hard to build his fitness at an age when most players live on their past. I have little doubt that he will score a lot of goals next season as well and we should ensure it is for us. He is a great example for any up and coming striker.

Another great performance from him today , several superb hold ups and lay offs in the first half and great defensive work in the second. It’s a no brainer for me, offer him a decent contract for next season. He lives locally so that should help no end.

My point is we should sign him to the summer of 2025 . I didn't realise he already signed a contract beyond this summer ( I thought he signed to July 2024 with an option ) . I missed that one!.

I think you’re right, signed in January to the end of the season with an option for another year. A no brainer to offer him a really decent deal.

Rip up what we offered him and re issue a 18 month contract on Monday. Otherwise teams will be bidding for him in the next month or so.
