I wasn’t planning on going but had my arm twisted by a mate and was surprised at the turn out. Cheap tickets, beer on the terrace and mingling with away fans makes a different type of atmosphere. It obviously won’t replace the men’s team (and the constant need to compare can get a bit annoying!) but I’d like to see more women’s matches at the mem. It offers us gasheads a more chilled and family friendly experience, nice for a leisurely Sunday.
The west terrace works pretty well too as it’s usually the other way round for pizza cup games. I guess it’s all about whether it’s financially worth it for the club? Giving season ticket holders a ‘top up’ fee to get all the girls games would be good too.

Ground grading for the FA Women's National League means you need somewhere to pay in so I don't think Lockleaze in it's current state will be tenable unless the FA bends the rules. Moving to the Mem would mean the pitch taking a bare minimum of 11 extra games over the course of the season. To me inviting the women's club to share The Mem is a total no brainer and would increase revenue for the WFC.

Yeah I enjoyed yesterday, took my daughter along who really enjoyed it . That was her 3rd Gas game , 2 men’s ( both defeats 😂) and yesterday’s game ….. a win . Guess which one she enjoyed the most ?! She was given a #hergametoo flag , had face painted. All round a nice relaxed afternoon. We sat in the west stand ….. my first experience. View was ok but isn’t it a naff bloody stand ? What a waste of space it is . Really should be pulled down and something fit for purpose built in replacement.

It would be interesting to hear what sort of crowds they’d have to get at the Mem to break even ?

Interesting about the ground grading. I wonder at what point you aren’t allowed to drink on the terraces, they allow it at women’s premier games?
You’re right the west stand is bleddy awful and I’m hoping down the line once the east terrace is done that it’s all pulled down(along with the south west pillar county stand) for one massive steep “bums on seats” stand but that’s for another thread!
I’m guessing the west is the cheapest to run, less stewards needed as all single tier and the bar used is outdoors so no cleaners etc. It does seem a no brainer to have games there if the cost is right.

Did the club charge the Girls to play at the Mem or is it free? And is there any sharing of ticket revenue, food and drink?
I'm not having a go at the club or anyone. Just wondered.

Hopefully all those who claim to be fans of the girls team are genuine and not just there because it’s fashionable. If they are genuine they will be willing to pay a proper ticket price in future, make the team profitable and afford to start paying the players a wage as they hopefully progress through the leagues.

Football, profitable? Highly unlikely.

Yeah the women’s game overall is generally being subsidised by the men’s game, which given how obscene it is in the premier league I’m not too fussed about. Let’s hope their initial outlay will mean that the gas girls will be profitable for us as the women’s game is more popular now.
