We set up very negative today and disappointed with our approach. Deserved what we got in the end and I have no idea what our tactics were. Finlay was pathetic today. Just exposed as someone in over his head. Needs replacing next season. Pretty sad as well to see Hoole as you’d think one of his last rovers game as he’s simply not good enough. When you see derbys right back compared to him is just night and day. I thought Hoole for a player who should be far "more rusty" than Finley had a good game against one of the best wingers in the league Hoole second half looked the player of last season, keen fast and confident.

Looks like I will have to be brave enough to take this on today. Hopefully a good game and three points to boot. UTG! Please don't bother again 🤣

22 points from 17 league games. This from the manager who said:
"...there's a reason why I took this job and that group of players is one of the main ones."
OK then.

We were not at our best today. One or two key players were lacking in sharpness.
On paper, Derby County had a much more experienced, skilful and creative team than us.
Our team had players aged : * 20 * 20 * 21 * 21 * 21 * 22 * 23 * 25 * 31 * 34 * 35.
The back five players were once again young and relatively inexperienced players.
The visitors age profile was : * 22 * 22 * 28 * 28 * 28 * 30 * 30 * 31 * 32 * 33 * 34.
Neither side has the ideal age profile for a balanced team.
A very similar contrast between the two teams is found when appearances are considered.
The Rams on the pitch today were the best side we have played this season.
Take it on the chin. It shows everyone how are we have to travel.

All good and thank you for asking. Yourself? (Not sure what this has to do with anything, but it's very pleasant all the same)

I guess better than saying "I took this job on as the contract offer was just too good to turn down" Although the owners clearly were never looking for promotion this season anyway.

Evans, Taylor, Thomas, Vale, Conteh, Simclair Martin, Grant Hunt, that's the players I hope will be part of our squad next season

Sinclair, Grant & Hunt are really only good enough now for a L2 promotion chasing side not a L1 side.
GF & MT have a massive rebuilding job this summer.

On paper and in reality Derby were going to be the better side and they were, but we really did not help ourselves out there. Lack of care of the ball in possession, too many times we gave it away cheap, some inexplicable hopeful long balls but also some really careless passes or choice of passes. Gift after gift to a Derby side who were already going to be a big enough challenge. Absolutely. That`s what annoyed me so much. So many self inflicted wounds. Was Finley sponsored to give the ball away?

22 points from 17 league games. This from the manager who said: "...there's a reason why I took this job and that group of players is one of the main ones." OK then. 25 points. Plus we're higher in the table than we were 17 games ago (one place admittedly, but that's still a *bit* better) Who knows what's actually going on with the current group of players in the dressing room? Not us, as Taylor keeps it all in-house, which is a good thing - far better than the previous regime - but Taylor leading this group of players has not seen the club fall down the table into the relegation battle that many on here were predicting...

Just got back..
Took a diversion at some point to see how the Mem was getting on in absence for one reason or another.
Hahaha one bar not ready to serve, no problem....the other bar served, but till inoperative so had to hopscotch around to find one that was! Both issues soon rectified, but shabby. So.....no change in my absence then!
We swiftly moved on. Dear oh dear!
Anyhoos, onto something less important:
Kinda told you so pre match, but I'm not the kind of person to say that!? Hey no shame in getting your @rses handed back to you from time to time by a club with upwardly momentum. No complaints. Fair result, we got what we deserved - I kinda thought we would - and we'll done them for a masterclass in where we want to be to compete for promotion and the league below the elite.
We have a long way to go.
I can't say anyone played without heart and intentions.... captain, great to have him back played poor for me, too many displaced balls and unforced errors.
2 of the goals were gifted possession.
And it looked like it should have been suspiciously another as 4 loomed with a goal line scrambler that looked over the line at one point.
A shame JM couldn't have pulled one back with our one and only clear cut chance, but there you go wasn't to be and we move on.... quickly.
Trying to rifle up the Derby in the Souf Stand? Also, in East Stand boxes a bit of shenanigans ... Pitiful really, but gave 30 seconds of popcorn entertainment if you indulge in that sort of thing....but again, where was the stewarding? Just as pitiful, it looked from distance...
To conclude: Their game plan worked well, we were soundly beaten without no redress. I wouldn't be surprised if they went up champions on this performance and I've just seen the best team this season.

Over a season that PPG would put us on 73 points. Plays offs or just outside. Taylor’s done a pretty good job in my opinion. If he can get to the play offs or just outside next season then I’ll be pretty happy about that , obviously there’s always going to be some that don’t like him, even DC had a few.

How could you get promotion with this squad? Sorry best squad of the century in your eyes in August.

What did you want him to say to a squad who had just seen two managers disposed of? Ever heard of psychology? He also arrived and soon realised like many of us (not Topper) that the so called great players were past it and injury prone. He loves talking about Hunt and Wilson’s influence in the changing room and on the pitch, he never mentions the treatment room! You haven’t added his comments for weeks ok the Taylor Talks thread, strange you haven’t.

What are you comparing Gordon to, Chris Caruthers? He rarely makes a forward pass, stuck on train tracks and can’t use his right foot. Continually week in week out targeted by the opposition, rarely does a Lee Brown over lap and whips on a cross, can you ever remember a Gordon assist or goal? Today the first goal, from the corner he clears straight to the bloke on the edge of the box. He simply isn’t good enough and I bet he’s playing Div2 football next season. Cool story While on the train home, really Enid Blyton hahaha. Only Gordons and Hoole's nearest and dearest would think either could be classed as being a footballer, the pair are absolutely shocking, and watching them yesterday I am sure, even good old monotone Matty, must be thinking I cannot play these two clowns in the first 10 games of next season, or I will be back looking out of the sunny window with Mr Tisdale by November.
