Not sure that makes it a "pretty good job" or the bare minimum you'd expect when a club sacks an under performing manager and replaces him. I doubt fans will be so accepting this time next season if we're still only around mid table. But we dont know do we? People are predicting a similar season , but if he gets in players in HIS mould , we may be pleasantly surprised.
The football has been pretty turgid , but if its non pretty promotion winning footie , I'll take that.
No second tier football in 31 years FFS
The fact we still turn up in decent numbers after 31 years suggests that we do accept it? You do wonder how next season will pan out for MT as it seems the owners don't want promotion until the infrastructure is in place but the fans will be expecting a top 6 push, or at least an improvement on this season.

Just watching this Liverpool game with my Father, and Liverpool brought on Salah and Robertson. Obviously we don’t have their money! But I flippantly said, we bring on Marquis and Brown…….and that tells me how weak our squad is.
No game changers on the bench, pace or match winners, I think our bench in a lot of cases makes us weaker in what we bring on.

Browns a game changer, but Marquis is past his best as seen with the header. Need options upfront and more pace.

I’m struggling to see how Brown is a game changer with 1 goal in 26 appearances and 5 assists. Bang average, well below average for a marquee signing. If we have players upfront next season with these stats it might be relegation because make no bones about it, Chris Martin has stoped this side being in a relegation battle.

If Brown is a game changer, Lewis Haldane was world class.

Was Brown really a marquee signing or somebody we picked up cheap as nobody else would touch him? Pompey were preparing to pay £250K before his assault charge.

With the ages of Sinclair and Martin and the almost total lack of goals from Marquis or Brown, we will need a major overhaul up front.Coupled with the glaring lack of speed,I would be very concerned if we don't have a major re vamp. Not sure what length of contracts these guys are on but no doubt MT is on the case.

Things will have to improve next season . Since Christmas we have played 8 home games W2 D0 L6. A positive fellow fan who only says ' good things ' commented today ' That fans are leaving early in matches since the new year '.
The style of football is negative. We play far too deep with a lone striker similar to the boring football under Garner with Hanlan as the target man.
Of course people will expect improvements next season. Will the club increase the budget ? Will it be similar?. Fans will expect a top 6-8 by October. This is were Taylor will have to face the pressure. He won't be in opposition but in power were excuses won't wash. He gets away with it for now even though our home record is W2 D0 L6 in 2024 .

I think to put the clubs reputation on the line knowing you were likely to be signing a convicted female abuser, he must of been an important signing to put all that at risk. Considering as well so called other sides were coming in for him if he was innocent and we had never signed anyone big over the summer, he was a marquee signing for us.

Given Abdullatif made it clear at the Q&A the club couldn't continue to lose the same amount of money each season, then it seems highly likely the wage budget will be cut rather than increased.

And of course the fact that surrounded by better players he looked very secure and likely to be a decent PL centre back. But then again some may think that a teenager or 20 year old playing his first few league games shouldn’t be expected to be the finished article, albeit in L1. Just an alternative pov of course. 😉 UTG!

But I guess a CH is far more part of a team and how he plays will be influenced by the players around him. And of course playing alongside Virgyl Van Dyke might be a bit more helpful than playing alongside…… For a keeper I always think it’s about handling, positioning, catching with a safe pair of hands and can be a very individual position. And you may well be right. And also remembering back to Luke Daniels time here in 2011(?) I never thought he’d be a Conference level keeper but he’s had a decent career overall. UTG!

Daniels is thee number one example. He left us and not sure he’s played lower than the championship since? Certainly not league one.
