Typical of the kind of goal he scored for us before he lost interest and started pretending he couldn't hit a barn door.....

Monk is not happy about it Jobe still played the rest of the match though. Exactly and I can’t even remember their physio coming on to attend to him. If he did their physio has serious questions to answer.

Not the worst performance but it really did highlight how weak we are without Martin. No focal point and although we did create chances I never felt confident we were going to score. I felt a bit for Brown, he's not a no9 & having to fight off the centre backs for anything knocked long was never going to end well I'm not sure what the rules are but if Greenslade is eligible for next week I'd absolutely be starting him. I'd love to see Baggott back next season, JCH we all know is a handful & he never had a kick. Fingers crossed Ipswich go up & we xan get him back either on loan or permanently permanently Not a clue what the fascination is with Greenslade, seen him many times, so far off a football league player it's ridiculous, would do a job at Bath City I'll be honest I've not seen much of him but he seems to have done well for Oxford City in a side that's struggled. If Marquis isn't fit what have we got to lose by giving the lad a chance

We should definitely play greenslade / youth team players if we can on Saturday. What’s to lose?

No, Martin does Agreed he does, but so do Cambridge if they are claiming the player was sick after the game and was concussed, yet he played on for the best part of an hour.

No excuse for that. Fine him the maximum amount allowed.

It's the same issue with Ryan Jones, once we allow a player to join another club on loan in January then he can't play for us again this season. The only exception is goalies as they fall under a separate emergency loan rule.

Surprised you posted that before you'd even seen the incident? CM clearly has issues given that the second time he's lost his cool for no obvious reasons this season.

I fully accept that Martin should not have headbutted the player, as I would for any player no matter who he plays for. However Cambridge failed to carry out the head injury protocols and by allowing him to play the whole game they endangered the safety of their player. This is clearly the case as they are now saying he will miss the last three games of the season due to the protocol.

That was just before half time too so surely they would have checked him during the break but still allowed him to carry on. No getting away from it though, Martin was a bellend and is becoming a liability...to do that to a 21YO kid too. I say just get shot of him completely in the summer and replace, he cant have too long left anyway at this level

Martin is very lucky to only get a relatively short ban, that was appalling. The end of the season can't come soon enough - with the best attacking option being Brown on his own up front. Thankfully we're safe and not where we were when we were relying on Chris Beardsley as the lone striker and hoping Matt Harrold would get fit again.
Taylor needs 3 decent league 1 level forwards (assuming Martin is the fourth) and they don't come cheap, plus paying up Brown's contract will cost. Otherwise it will be another long season. Recruitment has to be spot on this time after last summer.

Our most successful strikers generally weren’t rated that highly when they came to the club. Lambert Collins Taylor Bruno Saunders Hayles Just for example , most of those were frees or very cheap. Peterborough seem to be doing exactly what we did in the 90s and early 00’s and that’s down to good recruitment. Hopefully the club are sorting it now so we can get some good players in with potential to be top league 1 players.

However, if like the vast majority of teams he only plays 1 up front then you don’t need 4 strikers in your squad - you’ll end up with 1 or 2 sat in the stands every week.

I thought that we are so far off being a top 6 League one side yesterday that I despair for next season. I genuinely think that we will struggle to be a top half side in 2024/ 25, given the amount of change that will take place.
2 things stood out.
We have no perceptible pattern of play. Rigid 4-2-3-1 where we clearly had no 1 and there was no press whatsoever. MT said that he wants us to press, but there was nothing to indicate that that there was even intent to do that. Frankly, I was bored watching that yesterday.
I watched the lap of thanks which was frankly cringeworthy given that there was no-one there. I watched MT closely and he was almost aloof, stood alone, apart from the odd word with Wayne Carlisle. He is an intelligent, honest guy, but I worry that he does not have those powers of persuasion, the personality to galvanise players, staff and fan base. Crowds will drop next season, as the optimism is evaporating fast. Mediocrity is our new identity to use modern football parlance.
