Hopefully the Conteh signing wasn't a one off and we won't be afraid to pay fees for young players with potential. If they are young, then the wage budget won't be too high. I know the initial out lay would be higher, but if we develop just a few of them and make a big profit it would hopefully be enough to cover the fees in the long run. We tried to break our transfer record on Ennis, if the rumors were true. Will we break it this summer, or just look at free players. Free players aren't necessary cheaper in the long run. The summer will tell us more about the new owners. First summer transfer window. No excuses of we will get better value in the next window! I agreed with what we were told in January, but will they back it up now! From my understanding, unless we receive a big offer for one of our players, there is unlikely to be big fees spent and we are working on a reduced budget. I do recall the owners saying the transfer fee budget was separate to the general/playing budget but who knows they may have re-thought that approach.

Bit surprised Orient let this youngster Jephte Tanga leave. Could be developed into decent attacking full back/wing back. Attachment Deleted

Hope the club are aware of Dan Ellison at Chippenham - if we are looking to set up a development squad, he's exactly the type of player we need to be scouting. Regular minutes in cup competitions and development games, alongside training with the first team squad ready for games in the league.

No teams promoted have been relegated. Unusual. Well done Argyle. See you and Huddersfield and Birmingham

Ipswich double promotion amazing for them!
Should inspire us to be more ambitious than championship in 3-5 years.
Also Birmingham relegated that's a decent away day in a nice stadium for us next season.

No teams promoted have been relegated. Unusual. Well done Argyle. See you and Huddersfield and Birmingham That must be the first time in a while right? Especially as Rotherham have been yoyo-ing so much. It shows the level of investment you need at the Championship though, Plymouth spent a solid amount of money under their American owners and they only just stayed up. Kinda worrying Ipswich double promotion amazing for them! Should inspire us to be more ambitious than championship in 3-5 years. Also Birmingham relegated that's a decent away day in a nice stadium for us next season. Ipswich deserve many of the plaudits they're getting, absolutely superb what they've done. But tbf, their squad by the end of L1 was probably a solid Championship team, they were signing players for extreme L1 money. Still, to get promoted on that is massively impressive

Remember going there in 1990 when we drew 2-2.
Sure Martin Thomas was playing for them then and let in a really soft goal for us to equalise late on.

We went there a couple of years back when Coventry were in our league and they were renting St. Andrews.

Lamine Cisse is a promising player out-of-contract in the French 3rd tier Championnat National. Gwilhem Tayot a decent LB/LWB too, but has 2 years left on contract.

Pirate - Even if Rovers were interested, would we be able to secure the services of these or any other European players that have not been capped?
Not sure on the rules these days post-Brexit.

Guessing that the plan is to see us transition towards the Exeter model over the next few years where they cover their relatively small losses (a million or so) from the sale of youngsters, with of course Ollie Watkins being the stand out player. Given they clearly don't have a championship club competing with them for talent and their network of scouts, buying players, improving them and selling them on might need to be our strategy Sounds very exciting 😂

I think the only players we have been linked with are the ex Exeter players. I expect a lot of players are waiting to see what happens in the play offs and stuff at the moment.
