Not against the kite signing at all if it happens, decent midfielder just wondered why he hasn’t played for Exeter back end of the season was it due to an injury or is it the kind of similar position to Finley? I think this one has been on the cards for a while and in part is the reason Kite was dropped from Exeter team. I got the sense that Caldwell was reluctant to bring Kite during the fixture at the Mem with the rumours as they were... he was "pending" coming on for a long time. Exeter fans seem to think Caldwell uses him wrong. Pirate doesn't hugely rate him. If we can get enough games from Rositer, Grant and Conteh we already have an excellent midfield so if Kite is coming in to compliment that- this feels like a nice sensible signing. It's everywhere else I'm more concerned .

It'll be odd if the core of the team is Taylor, Ward, Rossiter, Evans & Martin with Sinclair and Thomas on the wings as that'll be basically JB's team.

Need to aim better than kite. If that’s the sort of squad player available then I’d rather go on quality than quantity

Although if he can hold is own in a mid table L1 side then isn't that the player we need if mid table is the aim next season?

Any of Taylor's Exeter boys out of favor at their current clubs? Seen Matt Jay mentioned, though it doesn't seem he's set the world alight at Colchester.

Of course two of them are injury prone, one of which might not get a new contract. Assuming the three stay and get a full pre season behind them a back up CM is what's needed. I guess only two will start with Evans in front of them.

Harry Kite supposedly close to signing on a free, will likely be first signing of the summer 👍. His dad has started following Rovers on social media too. He’s going to fly with us!!! UTG

Sam Nombe at Rotherham hasn't scored many, saw him recently made stefan payne look like Harry Kane, a million pounds, Exeter must have been laughing!

Yet he and Brown looked unstoppable at Exeter and just the kind of attackers we need. Goes to show there are no guarantees! All the stats in the world mean nothing if it just doesnt click again. We have seen plenty over the years.

Im not saying bring back Ellis, but it seemed he was a real live wire in the camp, a bit like Hinton, or Bill Roost and Josser.
It would good if we could bring someone who has real enthusiasm and dare I say it, a sense of fun.
I'm sure in all walks of live working with someone like that makes going to work much better.

on the assumption we're gonna play 3 in midfield next season Ward, Rossiter and Evans are the three with Conteh as a decent replacement/rotation option.
lots of concerns - but the main one is that Ward and Rossiter will barely play a season between them so that then becomes Ward/Rossiter Conteh and Evans. Given that the season is approx 50 games, you get injuries suspensions ect... Kite will be playing 20 games.
I reiterate the statement that we really need to be signing players that will improve the first 11. Signing a squad player is not really good enough for me I want better, players become squad players because they arent good enough.

Last time i saw him he had bulked up in all the wrong places ..... If Evans doesn't fancy him he will be out the door and equally I think Evans will raid Stevenage for some now proven L1 talent... I will not be at all surprised if Big Sam ends up at the Mem.

Don't understand why people write off players before they've even kicked a ball (or signed!). Realistically we have no idea how they will perform until they're given a chance, some of our best signings 'on paper' have been trash
If we sign Hartridge it suggests we'll swap to Taylor's preferred 352 formation. So we'll need more central midfielders and Kite fits the bill.

Good business to move him on but not really a championship player.

He's at a point in his career where it's time to step up or step back and - at the moment - I'm still happy to trust Taylor to bring in players who he knows and thinks are ready to step up. How many ex-Rovers players have done (hopefully) similar - left after being under-used by us and after a transfer where we've been happy to offload suddenly they're playing 40+ games a season and winning things...

Steve Flack on a free. Experienced option. Could probably do a job. Thought we missed out on him in 2003 despite a good offer but now his family have grown up might be useful back up for Martin.
