Wycombe Wanderers are excited to kick off a new season by securing a move to the Harlington training facilities in West London. Formerly the training base of Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers, Harlington will become the new location for the clubâs first-team operation as well as enabling the development of a new academy. The site is owned by Imperial College London and boasts 18 full-size grass pitches and a floodlit FIFA certified 3G astro, as well as a gymnasium, canteen, changing rooms, office and classroom space, meeting and video analysis rooms and a media studio. www.wwfc.com/news/2024/june/10/wycombe-wanderers-secure-harlington-training-facilities/

Charlton Athletic have agreed to sign Josh Edwards and Luke Berry, a fresh report from the South London Press has revealed.
It was reported last week that Edwards was poised to join the Addicks over Bristol Rovers and now it is said that a five-figure deal is in place for the Dunfermline defender.

Good temporary solution. As someone commented on the Wycombe forum: "Theres no Evidence thereâs any plan for a billionaire to suck up this site for decades. Just looking for a logical increase in training capabilities at a cost effective site while growing and fleshing out the academy plans."

Pretty much set in stone that Imperial College will not be looking to sell the site any time in the forseeable future - unless there was a development case. The rest of the sector is facing massive financial challenges over the next few years as it becomes much more difficult to recruit lucrative overseas students. Given their 'top of the league' status, Imperial are less likely to feel the pinch. However, the land of 18 full size pitches in West London would be worth a fortune.
Just recalling how heavily some were criticising Rovers though, when we didn't own our own training facilities.

Unless they have exclusivity, they might not be able to use some of the facilities, when they want. Good for them, if they get to use everything when they want. But sometimes a deal sounds good, but it isn't as it seems.

Havenât read anywhere that they have moved but guess with relegation they may be moving to a cheaper option.

They don't own it, they'll be paying to use it, other teams also require use of it, it's over 20 miles from WWFC and it's not a long term solution. Anyone can rent premium facilities for the short term. I much prefer the idea of owning and developing the Quarters than paying a wealthy university. So not impressed.

So not impressed. The facilities and the fact it's in London will probably allow them to attract a better calibre of player. Like Barrow have done training in Manchester. It's a temporary solution. They wanted to buy Readings training ground which would have cost near to ÂŁ25million and they also want to develop an academy, so eventually I expect them to own there own facility. In the meantime they get to use an excellent facility while exploring other options.

And we're so far behind -- We've been lapped. We have a future England number one who will make us millions. Maybe we could have one dustbin thread entitled âevery other club is doing everything better than roversâ
