The thing that disgusts me as others have said is this wasnt communicated before and over the period so far that the STs have been on sale. Again another bad taste left with supporters.

I can remember the club saying that this years season tickets would be uploaded onto last years card and there would be no need for a new card for the coming season. So what has changed, did the club cock up and give out miss information . I suspect they planned this all along but waited until most people had got their tickets before announcing this, as there are some that may not have renewed if they new they would have to pay via a smart phone. Appalling if that is the case.

Statler and Waldorf come on down, the bell weather pressure group crack me up, the club cannot do right for doing wrong, get criticised for not being progressive and when they introduce something all commercially minded clubs are already doing then it all goes off; ffs, try getting into a premiership / championship match without a ticket in your mobile, absolutely no chance. its like cheese-cake its the future.

Club said they could be used for future seasons.

Well we are not in the premier league and the club should have informed fans before they purchased their season tickets.

I asked Pete on Twitter last August about having the option for season ticket on the phone, he said it was the plan but not for this (23/24) season. Cant remember if he said it was planned for upcoming season (as his response is now deleted with his account). It was always the plan, so should have been communicated before selling STs or only apply (the £15 charge for those choosing a card) to those buying STs from today. Easy.

Strange how everyone seems to accept that you pay a booking fee for tickets sent electronically, which costs the club virtually nothing, and pay no fee for paper tickets collected in person from a real human and paid for with cash, which costs the club quite a bit.
This is the right way round compared to the normal process, but £15 is extremely steep and I guess it's more of a frightener to stop people doing it.

There can be no arguing with the business decision as it makes complete sense. Phone apps are the future-much easier and cheaper to administer. The cards have to be printed by specialist security bonded printers and they do charge a lot of money for their services. Those people who say that charging £15 is too much for such a card have no idea as to how much they actually cost. Where i do think that the club has got it wrong is that it is their choice to change an existing system and so they should provide people who are renewing existing season tickets with new cards free of charge . It should be explained that this is a one off and that lost / stolen cards will be charged at £15 and new season ticket holders will have to pay the £15.00. It is also worth pointing out that if you renew , year in year out then the card will last you for a few years and the £15 fee spread over say 3 seasons works out at £5 per year or 25p per game. I don’t disagree that it’s more expensive than you would think. However, there’s a cost of doing business with anything like this and the club needs to cater for those who don’t have or struggle to use smartphones. Part of the problem is the club seemingly cocks up season tickets each season having to reissue the cards. It’s amazing that it can’t seem to keep the same cards each season. This adds to the cost that would otherwise as you suggest bring it down by using the same card year in year out. Once the card is produced it should be equivalent to maintaining a digital ticket from an admin perspective. Ultimately the problem here is not digital tickets though it’s selling them without making this clear to the people who need them that there will be a charge for them to actually get the ticket beyond the £3.50 admin fee (which I assume is ticket masters cut) they have already paid out for.

No problems with this , digital tickets work fine for me. And if you're 89 struggling to work out how to even send a text? How many 89 year olds are season ticket holders and attend on their own?

Another no brain used decision from the club. There having a laugh at the expense of supporters who are not in the digital world. Shame on the club and as for the £15, what hat did they pull that from. Seems like only five minutes ago the club was sending us gift packs for renewing our ST’s. After the sh** they have served up this season they should of sent us all £50 gift vouchers for our inconvenience. They really don't know how to read the room, do they? I reckon the AS’s have been to a couple of Prem games and have seen how the Prawn Sandwich Brigade do Soccer, and think they can run Rovers like that; despite how absolutely sh**e the football has been/probably will continue to be, and the fact that we are essentially a working-class lower-league club, supported in the main by working-class people. In the words of George Orwell, “the new owners unbellyfeel football" . . .

Support it in general. Disagree with charging those who don’t want them £15 extra for a physical ticket. Really disagree with charging £15 extra AFTER they’ve already purchased the ticket without detailing this up front. Really poor form. Classic Gorringe, though. That I can get behind, but the general concept is a good one.

The problem is after our last promotion (period of success) we seemed to attract a large amount of young fans, families. However this season I’ve noticed we are back to our loyal group of supporters attending regularly which seem to have a very large percentage of older supporters, which if we want to hold onto (and goodness we need to) we will need to cater for and look after 👍🏾

A few thoughts:
Not everyone has a smartphone. Some deliberately don't want one because of their addictive qualities (it's no coincidence that the execs at Apple don't allow their kids to use one)
Very much doubt that Ticketmaster specifically has anything to do with this. It's just the way a lot of Premier League clubs have gone, and not all use Ticketmaster as their default ticketing platform
Smartphone tickets work well as long as the turnstile systems can cope. Arsenal went to a smartphone tickets system the season but had to delay KO against Fulham by 30 mins because of a turnstile IT failure
Communication is everything - and the club continues to be generally dreadful. As many others have posted, why tell us now, not when the renewals were issued?
The Supporters Club has at least one Director (Helen) on the board. Why were they not consulted ahead of this decision?
This all rests with the CEO who continues to unimpress. Amazed that the relatively-new owners haven't sussed him out.

Mickey take we ve stumped up the money during a drab season, football dire, then told playing budget decreased, owner picking the team, now this, this is why we need a dynamic fans director to fight our corner, need Chris Sanigar! 😀🥊🥊

Be it a ST for BRFC or anything else. Simples really……
