I thought the list was done and dusted! Is this another case of the owner (or son) changing things at the last minute? I assume he's joking? Ah - went right over my head!

The prospect of a MT squad overhaul terrifies me. He made a complete pig’s ear of Rotherham’s squad last summer, signing a load of over-the-hill crocks. He is blamed by many for Rotherham’s shocking season. I also vividly remember his speech to the Rovers players when he arrived about how good the squad was and that’s why he took the job etc. Does this guy know a decent player when he sees one? I’m not convinced. Seen this a few times. Somebody made it up and then everyone uses it as fact. I double checked earlier and at least 50% of messages on Twitter when he was sacked, said he should have been given more time and that they could see what he was doing. Over the hill? Only two players signed in the summer were in their 30s. One was 30 and the other was 31. That's way over the hill!!! They have the smallest budget by far in the championship and last season was smaller than some League 1 clubs including Plymouth who went up with not that biggest budget. They had an injury crisis and had to sign that player we had on trial and start him straight away. His time there wasn't as bad as many make out on here. They were expected to finish bottom. He left them third from bottom with an injury hit squad. He might be rubbish for us, but stop making stuff up and saying stuff happened that didn't.

Paul Davis the clubs correspondent for the Rotherham Advertiser summed it up well. "Rotherham didn't know it at the time but they were in trouble, deep trouble, right from last summer. Taylor wanted Championship-proven signings and made a host of them. The problem was, most of them were past 30 and had seen too much of the inside of treatment rooms. Sean Morrison, Lee Peltier, Grant Hall, Shane Ferguson, Tyler Blackett (he was 29 then, 30 now), Sam Clucas and Daniel Ayala were gambles and only Morrison, Peltier and Clucas have partially paid off All of them have had injury issues while Hall, Ferguson, Blackett and the now-departed Ayala have averaged eight appearances each. They have been joined on the sidelines, for varying degrees of time, by Jamie Lindsay, Andre Green, Cameron Humphreys, loanee Fred Onyedinma, Cohen Bramall and, lately, Peter Kioso and Jordan Hugill. Other recruits like Cafu, Dexter Lembikisa and Arvin Appiah - the latter two both on loan - have been either not good enough or not bothered enough or both while record-signing striker Sam Nombe hasn't justified Rotherham paying the first seven-figure fee in their history."

I've heard the retained list has been handed in, on the back of a fag packet. Benson and Hedges have been released, and are currently looking for a new club...

Players announcing their departure. Ok it is rumoured that the budget is being slashed but all those players gone and no coaching staff, hope we are not using budget coaches! All rather confusing.

It's pretty obvious MT failed at Rotherham or he wouldn't have been sacked in the first place? All we can do is hope he's learned his lessons with so many players being injury prone at Rotherham and alos Rovers this season. I believe MT was working at Rotherham without a DoF/HoR so it couldn't have been easy recruiting players when his knowledge of the Championship was fairly limited. Mahoney seemingly suddenly quitting this week does make you wonder what's going on recruitment wise, as there already been a fall out or as he been offered a far better job elsewhere.

I've heard the retained list has been handed in, on the back of a fag packet. Benson and Hedges have been released, and are currently looking for a new club... The retained list was beautifully typed up on Rovers headed notepaper. Unfortunately the person responsible for publicising the list saw their own name was top of the list and left before sharing it!

I paid £15 and got the Retained List nicely printed on to A4 paper (Ariel 14 font) and it came via courier this afternoon. The rest of you should get your electronic versions in the next few months. There were no big surprises in the list.

MT's coaching staff including I believe KB were all on contracts until the end of this season, there's been no indications so far any have been given contracts for new season. I've no idea how Data Analyst etc contracts work they could be just contractual employees rather than on annual contracts? contracts.

They signed some of them due to their injury crisis. Look at some of the post reporters in the past. I would rather listen to the majority of fans. I live in Cornwall and know a lot of Exeter and Plymouth fans who rate him. We seem to be the only club they moan about him😂. The majority of players Rotherham signed were young, with a few older gambles. You have to gamble, when you have the smallest budget!

Jesus and trying to save money, wonder where they are going to find new coaches and players? Devon. Only two players but what gets me is we now have an England u20 goalie and the coach has left the club! Not worried about the assistant manager, but we let JB bring in chaos! Not again please.

UTG! edit: sorry lastminutewinner. You beat me to it. Memo to self don’t quote people after 4/5 hours because someone else would have already done it. 👍

These comments below are remarkably familiar to the Rotherham Advertiser article. Name me one decent signing he made last summer? Appalling recruitment. Now we expect him to lead a huge recruitment drive here this summer with a Head of Recruitment that was the former Chief Scout when the majority of the dross we want rid of were signed? Madness.
