They signed some of them due to their injury crisis. Look at some of the post reporters in the past. I would rather listen to the majority of fans. I live in Cornwall and know a lot of Exeter and Plymouth fans who rate him. We seem to be the only club they moan about him๐. The majority of players Rotherham signed were young, with a few older gambles. You have to gamble, when you have the smallest budget! These comments below are remarkably familiar to the Rotherham Advertiser article. Name me one decent signing he made last summer? Appalling recruitment. Now we expect him to lead a huge recruitment drive here this summer with a Head of Recruitment that was the former Chief Scout when the majority of the dross we want rid of were signed? Madness. Are you going to go and get all the positive ones now. They had a budget way smaller than anyone else in the league. He signed a few players that had been injured, or anyone who would pay for a wage that wasn't a championship wage. One signing for us and he's doing okay and he was on your list๐. At Exeter he did okay when he was given time. If we were in the championship now, with a way lower budget than everyone else, would you be expecting us to be flying and making top signings?? Have some perspective.

Little we can do as fans if the owners feel that's the approach they wanted to take, as somebody else posted what's the alternative, dismiss MT & GF/CS, spend a month searching for replacements, most likely appoint replacements who've been dismissed for something similar in the past, then start looking for players a month or more after every other L1 club started lining up replacements? Why not publish the articles highlighting that MT built a pretty decent squad for Exeter last summer??

But even they didn't break records for consecutive games without scoring, although here it was 'only' the 1.8 goals conceded a game. Nice diversionary tactics, but the fact is your boy Taylor is painfully out of his depth and somehow managed to make things worse after the woeful Barton regime.

I've just said he's done okay previously and that any manager deserves times and a change to build their own squads. I said the same about DC and Barton. It's not just because it's Taylor. Taylor had to cut the budget during the summer and we lost our best player. You could see he could be out of his depth. Yet you thought a coach that had never managed at league level was a good choice. Talk about as massive contradiction!!! The fact is, none of us know how is going to do. He did average at Rotherham considering the budget, but he over achieved at Exeter. Can he over achieve with us??? I don't know, but you don't either. So don't make out you do. Exeter played seen decent football and not just when they played us! They beat Plymouth in a derby 4 0 and were unlucky not to go up in the COVID season. I'm not his biggest fan, I'm just willing to give him a fair change before writing him off. But I know lots of people who are big fans of us. If we have a bad start to the season, then he should go. I will give him 6 games and go from there.

Howโs Mr Cardboard doing so far?
Do you all have confidence in his abilities to build a new progressive Bristol Rovers?

I'm not saying to sack him then, but I can form more of an opinion after seeing how he wants to set the side up. What formation he wants to play, what style of football the type of player he wants to bring in etc. Your laughing as I'm going to judge him more after 6 games of next season, when you wrote him off before he even signed. You can't make it up ๐. Contradicting yourself again. Okay for you to judge straight away, but not for someone to judge after. They are not given him all the power, like they did Barton. If anything the new owners are having too much say on the type of player we sign. So who ever is in charge, we will be building a similar squad. So giving him the summer isn't a big issue. If he brings in a lot of young players with potential like Conteh with a few experienced heads. If he can't get a tune out of them, then I'm sure someone will. You are banging on about his time at Rotherham. The size of the club and when their budget is less than half of nearly all the other clubs and smaller than everyone else's. Where did you expect them to be??? If you can honestly say, you think they should have been mid table, then I can see why you are harping on about his time there. Did you think Exeter are bigger than a League 1 club and should have been top, not just outside of the play offs?? I'm not judging the time here. As for most of his time in charge we had a rubbish defence and no pace. Nobody to get in behind, to force the other team backwards etc. When we sold Collins and Thomas got injured the season was over. If anything at far Taylor has been too much of a yes man. Taking the blame, when the budget was cut. It's going to be cut further during the summer.

It seems to me he has had to contend with the Liverpool mafia, new owner trying to pick the team, and abuse from fans. Like Daniel we need to give the guy a chance, he s a northerner not flash no stone island, no I've played for Man city and courting attention. His coach gets into a brawl at the sponsors awards night, ffs, let's give him the reduced budget window to assemble a squad and give him until December, I'm not going to dig up posts but you were Ben Garners main sponsor on here for months.......

Could today be the day?
I havenโt been this excited since checking every hour during the last transfer window.
It really is quite the rollercoaster of drama being a Rovers fan.

Paul Davis the clubs correspondent for the Rotherham Advertiser summed it up well. "Rotherham didn't know it at the time but they were in trouble, deep trouble, right from last summer. Taylor wanted Championship-proven signings and made a host of them. The problem was, most of them were past 30 and had seen too much of the inside of treatment rooms. Sean Morrison, Lee Peltier, Grant Hall, Shane Ferguson, Tyler Blackett (he was 29 then, 30 now), Sam Clucas and Daniel Ayala were gambles and only Morrison, Peltier and Clucas have partially paid off All of them have had injury issues while Hall, Ferguson, Blackett and the now-departed Ayala have averaged eight appearances each. They have been joined on the sidelines, for varying degrees of time, by Jamie Lindsay, Andre Green, Cameron Humphreys, loanee Fred Onyedinma, Cohen Bramall and, lately, Peter Kioso and Jordan Hugill. Other recruits like Cafu, Dexter Lembikisa and Arvin Appiah - the latter two both on loan - have been either not good enough or not bothered enough or both while record-signing striker Sam Nombe hasn't justified Rotherham paying the first seven-figure fee in their history." It's pretty obvious MT failed at Rotherham or he wouldn't have been sacked in the first place? All we can do is hope he's learned his lessons with so many players being injury prone at Rotherham and alos Rovers this season. I believe MT was working at Rotherham without a DoF/HoR so it couldn't have been easy recruiting players when his knowledge of the Championship was fairly limited. Mahoney seemingly suddenly quitting this week does make you wonder what's going on recruitment wise, as there already been a fall out or as he been offered a far better job elsewhere.ย ย That is a pretty logical statement. So do you think JB failed at Rovers?

So do you think JB failed at Rovers? Isn't the underlying problem that clubs like Rotherham and us do not have the finances to bring in quality players who have little or no injury record as they are priced to high . That leaves us the choice of Developing our own Buying from below us. Taking a chance on injury prone player's One or two "marquee" signings. The trick is to get the balance right as last summer it plainly was not, only time will tell if MT can deliver.
