Anyone else pick up on the how mentioned his previous clubs and having to work with a bottom 6 budgetWill be interesting to see how does with a bigger budget it does make you wonder what he would have done had he had a top 6 budget He has changed his tune then. At the time he got sacked he confirmed he had underperformed by taking us into the relegation zone on a midtable budget. "Listen, I’m saying that as an underachieving manager, I have a mid-table budget in League One and I ain’t succeeded this year, I’m underachieving. In the last two years I’ve had a bottom six, bottom eight, budget and we’ve over achieved. This year I’m under achieving as a manager and I’ll take that. My signings haven’t been good enough, without a shadow of a doubt I ain’t shirking responsibility, but it still needs that backing, pushing, facilities to move forward and we’re still in the same place" www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-darrell-clarke-sacked-2307356So, the better budget he had, the worse we performed. I will never wish any success for our league rivals but for his sake I hope he fares better at Barnsley.

Strange that’s the case about a better budget. I’d forgotten tbh but that was the season we were chasing around for a striker wasn’t it? (Mind you we're always doing that) Didn’t we have Bakoyoko on a coach to a friendly and then not signing so we got Stefan Payne instead? I thought we struggled to recruit so where we were that Autumn wasn’t a great surprise. If that was a better budget ……🥺

DC's big money signings in the squad for his final Rovers game were Bennett, Nichols and Payne!
