Reported That Darrell Clarke is on his way put of Cheltenham now as well as some of their better players. Seems pretty Ominous as says he is off to Start a New challenge.
Still had one year left but allowed to Leave. I sense all is not well up the Road.

Still had one year left but allowed to Leave. I sense all is not well up the Road. Seems Darrell wanted to see more ambition from Cheltenham's board. I don't think he is in the mood to be messed about. From being handed a team dead and buried last September, he did well, but couldn't save them from relgation.

Very surprised Barnsley would want Clarke as League 1 seems to be his ceiling limit and they will want promotion

Great move. So happy he's finally getting a decent gig. Very surprised Barnsley would want Clarke as League 1 seems to be his ceiling limit and they will want promotion Not sure what's surprising? Has done well in L1, almost got us promoted and has only ever been in League 1 with squads with poor budgets? Definitely a "time to prove yourself" move but confident he will.

Left both us and Port Vale struggling near the bottom of L1. He did well for us in the first season back here, but apart from that, nothing which should excite a club who will expect nothing less than promotion. I wouldn't even want him back here

If he was to do that I’m sure, after what they did to this last seasons manager Neil Collins, they’d consider replacing him. It’s all about short term gain now I think. UTG!

In 18/19 when he left we finished 15th, followed by 14th in 19/20 before being relegated in 20/21 in 23rd with a massive collapse at the hands of Joey. Vale were heading for relegation when he took over. He steered them to a mid table finish and then got them promoted. They finished 18th which is about where they should be. So we still haven't finished above 3 of his League 1 seasons with us. Vale were about where they should have been and went down with a full season under different management.

DC was sacked here in December following a run of 7 defeats in 10 matches, you cant use our final position that season when he left us in the relegation zone. I hope he proves me wrong as do I like him a lot and felt we should have stuck with him even if it meant going down (which as you can see above, is where we were heading until Coughlan took over). He is a really good man manager, but I just think he lacks the tactical know-how to take teams further than L1.

He was sensible not to pursue a move there. If Barnsley arent top 3 by Xmas he'll be gone

Good luck to him if he gets that job, deserves a crack with a team with a budget to compete in the top 6 of league 1. Going to be some interesting returns to the Mem next season it seems

Not surprised he is off, Gary Johnston becoming director of football there.

Hardly surprising, especially with relegations on his CV!

Just announced on Cheltenhams site, he’s left to join Barnsley.
