Seem to remember us stinking the place out in the group stages in '90 , that didn't turn out too bad , but fck me that was a hard watch!

Had to turn the tv off after an hour of the torture for fear of putting my boot through it.I mean I’m no tactical expert but every time we had the ball at the back whoever was in possession would amble forward to halfway then notice there was no pass on to any of our midfield player as they were outnumbered 3 against the oppos 5 and that 5 barely moved out of the half way line semi circle(in their half) the whole game (well the 60 mins I viewed) but we continued to slowly go left then right then back to were we started!! I feel really sorry for the fans out there cos they tried to back the team to get something going on the pitch but no nothing doing from the manager and team.

Player power took over in 1990 - the players forced Bobby Robson to switch from 4-4-2 to 5-3-2. Perhaps we should let Southgate stay on in the role of lucky mascot as he seems gifted in getting the best side of the draw but let the senior players pick the formation, selection and tactics?

It’s not a good watch, it certainly ain’t entertaining and is awfully frustrating, but Quite a few teams through history have won major tournaments both at International and Club level playing ugly.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see us go on and win it, we generally grow into tournaments as they go on and my goodness we have a great squad 👍🏾

I hate to be a kill joy, but the amount of cups getting thrown on the pitch and at players and coaches is ridiculous. There's a reason drinking in the stands is banned in England. Also with the pitch invaders seeking selfies and flares and fireworks going off you wonder what the stadium security are doing? I do worry something more sinister could happen at this tournament

Can't believe that I missed Sewing Bee for this rubbish! Shame, I watched . We won 5-0. Were Esme or Patrick on the scoresheet?

Bit weird how they calculate who goes through from the third and fourth placed teams.Impressed with Georgia. Fitness levels throughout the tournament most impressive. Slovakia will face England.

Gareth has basically got three warm up games against very average opponents to prepare for a final against either France/Germany/Spain/Portugal. The squad is more than talented enough to win a one off football match. It's unbelievable how the fans are treating the side in Germany, I can only assume they're TED's on tour

It does make you wonder what is going on at the training ground and at the hotel - some of the best footballers in the world who train day in and day out under some of the best coaches in the world, and it looks like no one is even suggesting things to the ex-Middlesborough manager...

Yes we have been poor but I think there needs to be a little bit of perspective as well. In the last Euros we also scored two goals in the groups and look how far went. Compare that to the last World Cup where we scored nine goals in the group stages. We are still undefeated and won the group.
Of course now the favorable draw massively helps us but we will have to raise our game.

Morons.

I don’t think we’ve been that poor, it’s just we’ve been ordinary, mediocre, nothing special. Defence has been largely untroubled, with Marc G a very good player who’s making his mark. Pickford hasn’t had to do much. Denmark and Slovenia put 10 players behind the ball and we found it hard to break them down. Despite all their critics England miss the threat that Jack Grealish brings with his close control. He was a game changer last time. And he would still have beeen this time imo. I think this squad is weaker overall than the past few tournaments and we’ll do well to get to the final. I like GS but I get the overall feeling that perhaps he’s had enough and that the spat with Sheraer and Lineker and now the fans throwing cups at him a sign that it will be over soon. A shame given what he’s done but inevitable perhaps.
UTG!

The more i see the suggestion, the more i like it.
3 at the back (Walker, Stones, Guehi) with TAA and Saka as the wingbacks
Rice and Bellingham in midfield
Palmer kane/Watkins and Foden up top.
If its not working, easy to revert with one sub.

Southgate's is P286 W131 D71 L84...

Really enjoyed watching the Georgia match yesterday but had to laugh at McCoist, who kept insisting on calling Kvaratskhelia ‘the wee fella!’ He’s 6 foot tall and looks it! Hell of a player, too. My son is half-Romanian so our family gets to support two teams in this competition, which has made it a lot more joyful, it must be said! It’s a brilliant thing for Romania or equally for Georgia, Slovakia or Slovenia, just to qualify for the round of 16 and seeing what it means to players and fans alike makes for great viewing. A Scottish friend of mine pointed out how crazy it is that his team go out with pride in the players for their efforts yet England finish top of their group and everyone pans them. He’s got a point. Pressure and expectation. We all love to see football played with freedom but you’ve got to allow players to make mistakes in order to allow for that freedom.

Southgate is the same as most England managers. If they had a prolific goal scorer, Lineker, Shearer, Rooney and now Kane you could get the ball to them and they would do enough to cover the cracks. Kane is past his best and it shows.
