Dagenham promotion game was much better than the 7-0 imo, being the second promotion on the bounce and the jeopardy of the late breakthrough coupled with Accrington hammering their oppositions goal frame at the death. Be tough to top that day even without the morons running on the pitch mid match against Scunthorpe! The pitch invasion definitely took a little away from the 7-0. Instead of elation for the last 5 miniutes, we had what, half hour of stress not really knowing if they would come back out! Wasnt at Daggers unfortunately, but for me it goes 1. 2nd May 1990 followed by Blackpool 4-0 2J Igoes goal at Wembley 2J 7-0 4 Watching the Daggers result come in on Soccer Saturday 5 Grimsby penalty relief My all time Rovers greats 1 Grimsby at Wembley. We just had to get back in the league 2 7-0. No one could have written a script like that. 3. Daggers result. The noise & celebrations when the Accrington result filtered through. 4. Lamberts goal against City that got us to the Millennium Stadium. 5. 2nd of May 1990 what a night.

That's fair enough and your entitled to your opinion. I actually think he's acted like a plonker since leaving us and I wouldn't want him back now. However he gave me and my boy probably the greatest rovers moment I've ever seen and won't ever see again so il be forever greatful for that. I would've preferred him not acting like a spoilt child in the relegation season and Rovers not being relegated to leave 2. So did that totally ruin the following promotion season for you?

Nothing beats winning 7-0 as I doubt that will ever be repeated or beaten by any other team, whereas clinching promotion with a last minute winner is probably replicated once a season across the leagues.

Not only that but the way we beat Rochdale in the penultimate game before the 7-0 miracle was also another minor miracle in itself. It's the greatest end to a season by any football league club ever. Hands down. Hence the attention it attracted. It won't ever be matched. That's why it trumps all else for me. Browners winner was great but we were left relying on another game to finish to celebrate. The pure elation those last 2 games gave gasheads was unbelievable.

The limbs after Browner's winner was unbelievable. Plus the tense wait for the final whistle between Accrington and Stevenage. The relief when the celebrations began - and then the party all the way down Gloucester Rd after. Incredible day. Whereas the game versus Scunthorpe was a more gradual build up. Becoming more and more inevitable. The pitch invasion slightly ruined it too as there was zero jeopardy due to the Northampton game having finished. We just needed to keep Scunthorpe out - and they were as desperate for the game to end as us. It was still a fun day - but, for me, the Dagers day was better over-all. I'm just happy to have been at both games (and both our Wembley wins ) I wasn't at Twerton on 2nd May 1990 though - as I am sure that if I was, then that (and the following Blackpool away day) would have blown all those occasions out of the water. But I was only 9 years old at the time!

Season ticket sales will start to decline especially as the club has an aging fan-base. No-one lives forever and unfortunately there are not enough young people being attracted to watching Rovers. It is imperative the club make season tickets as affordable as possible in these cash-strapped times! Languishing in the third and fourth tiers decade upon decade is a major hindrance. UTG.

I’ve been supporting 62 years but looking around the West Stand I’m far from the oldest! Nearby seats have lost familiar faces in recent seasons and they aren’t coming back. Very few young faces to be seen this side. I’m pleased to see some in the Fan Zone most games. Gave my superfluous new scarf to a girl about 10 at the start of last season hoping to encourage her and her dad back. We need income now but we also need to encourage youngsters for the future. Old farts like me will largely keep on coming although the lack of a physical card has watered me off - £15, you’re taking the Mickey!

Fortunately not all rovers fans are as miserable and pessimistic as gaschat. Still average 7.5k in a poor year. Maybe 9k+ in a good one. Other than the 50s that’s still as good or better than most year gaschat loves to reminisce about.

It’s not so bleak. I used to drag my son along every week, initially bribed him with sweets from about age 5. He’s 17 now and bought his own season ticket for the first time. He goes with his mates now and abandons me. I used to think we were a fanbase slowly dying off, seeing him and his mates and how much they all love the gas has given me hope. They go every week and travel away a lot. Proper love the gas! I think where we are losing out is where people move to the city with no affiliation to either team. They want to take their kids to watch the football and probably choose city. Gasheads will usually raise gasheads, I feel my duty is done.🤣😂My dad subjected me to the same, wouldn’t change it.🤣😂

Deadline extended for buying season tickets “due to high demand@. If blocks e and f are anything to go by the club are not telling porkies. Only 50 seats left in those two blocks alone.

Never quite understood why there was a deadline in the first place I remember when we had the supporters club shop in Kingswood & the lady assistant saying , you be surprised how many people leave it to the very last day to renew, no matter what deadline date is set.

The club always tell us there is ‘high demand’ for season tickets just to have supporters panic buying!

The club always tell us there is ‘high demand’ for season tickets just to have supporters panic buying! Exactly that. It's reverse psychology. If we had such a demand they would tell us how many we've sold like they did with the record sales last season. We are way way down on last year and they need to sell more. Message to owner sort the kids pricing out and you might shift a few more!!

That’s good then. And I can believe it. We’ve had a decent summer and signed what looks like some decent players. We’ve also signed players in all areas, not missing forwards as we often do. Never any guarantees with signings but fingers crossed. The pre-season results have been ok and whilst that doesn’t mean much, it’s better than losing them. Is it perfect? Of course it’s not with lots more to improve but signs for hope. 👍 Owners planning shows some tangible improvements to the ground. All in all from where we were a few months ago it seems positive. I’m always an optimist but perhaps this year there are some reasons for it. UTG!

When one takes into consideration the size and population of Bristol, season ticket sales and match day attendances are abysmal!
