Good player and I would rather keep him than sell but not devastated if he goes. AS for all these stats you see nowadays , no doubt they are a useful aid in player assessment but they would not convince me to deal or no deal , I'M with mj, nothing replaces doing the hard miles and watching players when conditions and surroundings are less favourable .Should he go or should he stay? His call and good luck to him what ever.

So basically then, everyone’s going into meltdown because a player who hasn’t left yet might be the subject of a bid from another club that Dan Hargraves has guessed might be about £450,000, is that right?

My eyes tell me that Evans has consistently been our most creative player over the last three years. He’s the one looking to make things happening and by far the most likely to find the killer pass. Add decent free kick delivery and his determination to add the required grit to his game to play as a CM when required, and you have an outstanding player at this level. I’m gutted he’s going and agree with most, that £450K is far too low. The only plus in all this is that if he goes early in the window there is perhaps less distraction but then again, he doesn’t strike me as the type to be a disruptive influence. Totally agree. He will be massively missed and in a better league one team I expect him to have a standout season and be in the league one team of the year Interesting perspective from someone on the Huddersfield forum "it wouldn’t seem on the face of it that you could play Kane, wiles and evans together as probably not enough defensive qualities there.could be a Hogg or Kasumu with 2 of the other 3 ahead potentially". downatthemac.proboards.com/thread/119849/summer-2024-transfer-window?page=119

A year left on his contract or not 450k is an absolute steal. By far and away our best player last season and never Injured. We will miss him far more than we missed Collins. You dont know what youv got til it's gone springs to mind.

Absolutely dob on, the people on here saying he is not all that, let him go, the fella played more football than any other last season in the first team, the goal and the way he dragged the team back into the night match at Stevenage sums his general contribution up and what he is all about, £450k really, he is worth more to BRFC than that by keeping him and letting him run down his contract, n.b. o ye his goals scored tally is not too shabby either.

Absolutely agree with you two. People decrying him should ask why Pompey, Huddersfield and Birmingham want him. Personally I'll be very disappointed to see him go.

Let's be honest, how does Dan Hargreaves even know the fee?

Ummm no, it isn't. They have Evans creating more assists and more than double the amount of chances. And Brown rated 233rd best, to Evans 20th. Opta will only pick up the good technical points. His defensive positioning is awful, when the going gets tough, he doesn't show the the ball. Yes, when he's got time and space he can pick out a pass, that's the type of player that looks good on opta. No way, was he a top 20 player last season. So why are Portsmouth, Huddersfield and Birmingham interested in him? Perhaps you'd better speak to them.

Let's be honest, how does Dan Hargreaves even know the fee? Because the club leaks him info And the club definitely leaks him info when its trying to start a bidding war. So, they let it be known that Evo has had a bid of £450k (nobody has to know when, or how serious this was, could've been January) that acts as a little range finder for all the other clubs & a "come & get me" from him, his agent & maybe even the club itself if he dosen't want to be here. I reckon he, like all the rest of the Scousers, would jump at the chance of going back home (or nearby) & commuting to somewhere like Huddersfield on a daily basis & that we'll lose him anyway if a closer, bigger, better paying club comes along. Don't want to see him go, but wouldnt blame him either. Been a great servant to us & deserves to play in a successful team. I'd hope that was BRFC obviously. Who knows, with all ther new players & staff & a different atmosphere about the place, he might even change his mind & decide to stay.

Makes me laugh when people say about him going home, wasn’t that long ago he was playing in Germany. That must have been a long commute

Birmingham can afford to give us a juicy 750k+ clauses. Too right. Huddersfield just sold Rudoni for 5 million too. Make them pay through the nose or tell them to f.off

If I’m selling my house at market value and part way through the process find out my buyer is a multi millionaire would it be appropriate to increase the asking price to £300k above the market valuation 🤣

Would not be happy selling him on the cheap.

Would not be happy selling him on the cheap. Me neither but would probably be even more unhappy losing him for nothing next year. It’s not my money so at the end of the day if the club forced him to see out his contract I’ll be more than happy to watch this excellent player for one more season. If we are going to cash in now I’d rather it was done early to give MT a chance to reinvest rather than string it out into the season for the sake of another £100k to £150k. Hopefully any deal will have realistic add ons so we’ll do ok out of the deal in the long run.

Plus you can hardly see a disgruntled AE having made to run down his contract is then going to give 100% every game.

I read an article the other day that said we were dark horses for promotion, after having made some decent signings. Well we maybe if we get one or two more decent forwards in, and the quality of a player like Evans could make all the difference between getting a play off place or not. Getting a play off place and getting to Wembley is probably worth about 1.5 million to the club, far more than what it is reported we might be selling Evans for. Who Dares wins, and if we don't take a gamble on trying to keep our best players but sell them for knock down prices the club will never get promotion . This club has been short sited for years which is why we are stuck in the lower depths of the EFL, we have got to stop selling our best players if we want to progress.
