On the basis that the buying club offers half what he's worth, the selling club want twice what he's worth, and Gaschat expect four times what he's worth, £450k is probably about fair.

I read an article the other day that said we were dark horses for promotion, after having made some decent signings. Well we maybe if we get one or two more decent forwards in, and the quality of a player like Evans could make all the difference between getting a play off place or not. Getting a play off place and getting to Wembley is probably worth about 1.5 million to the club, far more than what it is reported we might be selling Evans for. Who Dares wins, and if we don't take a gamble on trying to keep our best players but sell them for knock down prices the club will never get promotion . This club has been short sited for years which is why we are stuck in the lower depths of the EFL, we have got to stop selling our best players if we want to progress. Surely there's more to the equation, such as does the player himself want to stay, can we get similar quality for less money, how likely is a Wembley appearance when even Posh didn't manage that this season, are the banks chasing us to pay down some of the debts etc. The perfect move would be bank £1m+ for the 2 players, pay out £500K for new players and make some progress this season if and off the pitch

There isn't much basis for that imo. Collins had an outstanding year in 22/23 where Evans looked out of his depth. Although Collins had a poor season with us I think you could largely put that down to Barton losing the plot and then the fall out from it all. Evan's though in 23/24 had been a massive improvement with 6 goals and 6 assists but I stand by that Evans won't make a big enough difference between a team being on the fringes of the top 10 and getting them in the play offs or a team in the play offs to make the autos. L1 was also a poor league last year too, the poorest level wise it has been for a few years so perhaps he had an easier ride? Next year will be one of the toughest so which Evans will turn up I don't know. When you think of CMs we've had over the years, Vitas, Disley, Lines for example, would you put Evans in that Bracket? For me it's a no. He's a good player don't get me wrong, but no legendary status and I think he's replaceable we'll be alright without him should he choose to move on.

It's easy to say that but if Huddersfield have said it's £450K take it or leave it, how do we get them to increase the offer to £750K? In my view goalscorers like AC & JCH always warrant higher transfer fees at our level.

If nobody is willing to pay more than £450,000 or whatever the figure really is, we have two options:
Sell for that amount, or Let him wind down the contract and leave for nothing in 12 months time.
Personally I'd bank the money as long as it's reinvested wisely.

Evans struggling and "out of his depth" during our first season back in L1 is another 'gaschat fact' to file in the category with "useless Jason Roberts" and "fat waste of money midfielder Rickie Lambert." Lol. Evans 11th best for xA Expected Assists and 8th for xA Per 90 during 22/23 and basically up there in the top 90%+ percentile ranking for several of the shooting and passing metrics too. A good first ever full season in League One and he's obviously kicked on again to be statistically one of the top 20 performing players in the division last season. He's too good for us and better off moving to a club where his talent can flourish and not struggling at the wrong end of the table. Just a shame the fee is so derisory.

At the end of the day the fans are always going to over evaluate a player it's better to sell and get some money that him go on free later on down the line Look at past examples Locks being a very good example ran his contract down then left on a free. Posh paid the price with JCH asked to much money ended going on a free at the end of season
Something is always better than nothing

Thanks and good luck.
Huddersfield are looking strong. Kane and Miller recently signed for them. Plymouth still wanted Miller and he looked good at championship level last season.

"undisclosed" so the owners convince everybody, including Pirate, that we sold him for £450K but could have sold him for far more?

Strange time to announce. Wonder if we have a signing lined up tomorrow that needed the Evans cash. Fingers crossed.
