A greater chance of Championship football, I'm sorry to say Still have to live in the W Yorks area though!! Plus always in Leeds shadow which is probably far bigger up there than City's down here,.

Good Luck to the Lad, I wish him well at his new club. He has given us some great memories these past few years.

Would of preferred he signed a new contract but that wasn't going to happen. Would of been happy for him to have ran down his contract and watched him for another season (don't think he would of downed tools). Would of preferred we got more for him (no idea what we have got). Happy we have been decisive, made a profit and MT can start planning post Evans. Thank you AE...loved your enthusiasm and stunning goals!

Yes, he played for the club and would have continued to do so. Respect

On the basis that we got 750k for Ellis, I believe a fair price for Evo would be somewhere in the region of 8.5 million. With add ons.

I used to sit alongside his family in the stand during the promotion year and his grandad was at most games and he travelled down from Liverpool. In The pic of ”Tony” staring up into the stand after the Scunthorpe match - he was looking directly at his grandad - and they hugged as soon as he got in the pitch - they were very close . If we had not gone up that season then he would have gone then but the Scunthorpe game changed that and he brought into the camaraderie within the team. He expected to be sold last summer but it didn’t happen and I didn’t see his family at all this last season.. It was never going to be Portsmouth despite the paper talk and with Huddersfield less than an hours drive from his folks - this was the ideal move for him. Sometimes we have to accept that it’s not just about football or ambition no matter what we read in the press

Thanks and good bye Evo. Enjoyed watching you play. At least the tories have gone too I get it, you consider your opinion to be the one that is correct; that said, I am aghast why you would want to make this forum even more divisive, with a barbed unrelated comment, its hard enough watching the best best players leave the club, lets not start throwing in flip-flop politics into the mix as well.

Thanks to Evo. My favorite player for years. Crap move for him though. Huddersfield, sh1t hole, not a big club... Don't get it. Closer to Liverpool, more chance of promotion, more money and the wider area around Huddersfield is stunning. He was loyal to us and signed a new contract a couple of years ago. We still get money for him. Reasonable deal all round.

Cheers Evo , good luck. I’m actually quite pleased we’ve dealt with the transfer so quickly and it’s not rumbled on.

In 2 windows we have sold 2 of our best players now. Imagine when Evans and all the others showed up there was all the talk of a new stadium on the ways.. 3 years later, we are no further forward and have decided to tart the Mem up a bit. The club is in our hearts, but to players they come and go, because there isn't much of a reason to stay very long.

There isn't much basis for that imo. Collins had an outstanding year in 22/23 where Evans looked out of his depth. Although Collins had a poor season with us I think you could largely put that down to Barton losing the plot and then the fall out from it all. Evan's though in 23/24 had been a massive improvement with 6 goals and 6 assists but I stand by that Evans won't make a big enough difference between a team being on the fringes of the top 10 and getting them in the play offs or a team in the play offs to make the autos. L1 was also a poor league last year too, the poorest level wise it has been for a few years so perhaps he had an easier ride? Next year will be one of the toughest so which Evans will turn up I don't know. When you think of CMs we've had over the years, Vitas, Disley, Lines for example, would you put Evans in that Bracket? For me it's a no. He's a good player don't get me wrong, but no legendary status and I think he's replaceable we'll be alright without him should he choose to move on. Evans struggling and "out of his depth" during our first season back in L1 is another 'gaschat fact' to file in the category with "useless Jason Roberts" and "fat waste of money midfielder Rickie Lambert." Lol. Evans 11th best for xA Expected Assists and 8th for xA Per 90 during 22/23 and basically up there in the top 90%+ percentile ranking for several of the shooting and passing metrics too. A good first ever full season in League One and he's obviously kicked on again to be statistically one of the top 20 performing players in the division last season. He's too good for us and better off moving to a club where his talent can flourish and not struggling at the wrong end of the table. Just a shame the fee is so derisory. Out of his depth a bit harsh maybe, but certainly he wasn't as good in game as the stats suggest. Often bullied off the ball, wayward passing, found it hard to find space and his formed dipped enough that he didn't make the starting 11 on occasion. Especially when players like Collins just carried on where they left off. Like I said, he is a very good player, but I don't think he's going to make the difference that everyone thinks he will.

Sorry to see him go and all the best to him. One of my favourite players of recent years. When he was good he was often very good, his performance at Stevenage last season was one of the best I've seen from one of our chaps in many years.

How about just ignoring each others posts if you're going to get that upset.

There’s general chat if people want to discuss the election result. Any more discussion will get split out and moved over to there.
