Good news is there are now three publicly interested parties. Price should be rising and here comes the FOMO!
Evo is a great player, but realistically we have to take a fee if a good one is provided. Anything over 750k and I think we will end up taking it.

I read that Birmingham value him at £500k which is way short of true value surely.
Need the deal sorted relatively quickly as last thing we need is him brooding and not wanting to play as he wants to leave.

We may also want a deal done quickly so we can move on a striker with the money made off the deal. I'd not be taking shy of £700k though personally, especially with three parties interested.

I'd be stunned if it was more than that unless some money bags ex champ club will just throw the money around just to swing their dick and not to be seen being outdone by another club. Last year of his contract and when you compare him to a prime Chris Lines, he's nowhere near his level.

£500k for Evo!? Jeez, Brummies really are dumber than they sound - and that's hard.

True, but we also sold Lines in 2011 and transfer fees were nowhere near then what they are now. Personally I would entertain offers of £600k+ for Evans and hope that it starts a little bidding war between the sides that are supposedly interested.

Wouldn't take less than 800+ clauses for Evo!
And would want us to get a good target man and midfielder out of the proceeds.

When do you ever see Evans like a tackle that Lines did? When do you see Evans run at players with the ball through the middle like Lines did? When do you see Evans knock a 40-50yard ball to feet or into a players path like Lines did? Set pieces and dead balls they are level as they are at finding space in the box or shooting from distance but Lines was a much more complete player at 25 than Evans is.

If we had reasonable hopes of getting promoted I’d say it’s worthwhile keeping hold of our best player - I suspect we’ll be mid table and probably better to have the cash (as long as it is re-invested in the playing squad).

Without Evans "he's Joey Bartons man ..." I will be pleasantly surprised if MMT team make any dent at all on the play-offs, I hope to be proved wrong, cannot wait to watch the story unfold at Melksham Town

I'd keeep him regardless of any offer and push for promotion. If it's all gone boobs up by Christmas then sell in January.

Better he leaves us now with all those fantastic memories (and a bit of cash) than him going stale like Collins and fans start to turn on him.

Let's just try and get into the top half before we even entertain the possibility of playoffs.

I am genuinely excited to see how this squad gels. The players signed suggest we can expect more energy and more pace than we have seen for some time. With the spending power and calibre of the last season's promoted and relegated clubs, I am realistic enough not to expect us to be challenging for honours in what will be a strong league. I do think it will be a good deal more entertaining though, and interesting to see the foundations of a better, long term, future taking place. MT, his new backroom staff and the playing squad will get my full support.UTG!

Say the offer was £600,000. By saying no we are effectively paying £600,000 for a player and giving them a 12 month contract. Is that good value? If it was £600k to stay up or £600k to make playoffs etc then Yeah probably But we have already signed a replacement, so it could be argued that the cash would be better spent on another area of the park. As it sounds like he is not signing a contract to stay and with multiple (bigger) clubs interested; I think it is just a matter of time until an offer that comes in meeting our valuation... I can't see him still being at the club by transfer deadline day. Without Evans "he's Joey Bartons man ..." I will be pleasantly surprised if MMT team make any dent at all on the play-offs, I hope to be proved wrong, cannot wait to watch the story unfold at Melksham Town Such a broken record. I'm genuinely embarrassed for you now. I implore you to GET OVER IT - honestly. JB is never coming back. It'll be so much better for your blood pressure and mental health if you accept that fact and move on.
