Question needs to be asked, what needs to be done so we can compete with likes of Huddersfield. Is this it for us, continue to lose better players to clubs in the same league. Get the Mem capacity up to 16K so we can compete financially with the top 6 sides seems the obvious answer, AE has only moved to the Terriers as they are able to offer him more money plus a good chance of promotion/championship football & so earning even more money.

Plus it’s a lot closer to his roots. No brainer for him .

Huddersfield ground has 24k capacity. The club's coming down are getting bigger and bigger, with better grounds and likely training facilities. The club is a long way off competing even with a refurbished Mem. I think we are due some honest timelines personally of each phase, what has happened to the East development. Anyway sticking to the thread topic, it is disappointing we are letting players leave for very little.

Like i said, he's a good player, but I don't think he's the difference between finishing in the play offs and automatics.

We've banked £750K & £450K in two transfer windows hardly, "very little" with sell on clauses we could well get the best part of £2m if both clubs now get promoted this season. Although if we'd banked £2m straight off it's not like we'd get cheaper season or match day tickets this season or we'd sign better players this summer.

I’m also in the camp of thinking Evans isn’t all that and that we’re better off cashing out and reinvesting.
But my we’ve had our pants pulled down again

Yeah I wonder why we can't compete with the likes of recently relegated Huddersfield.. with their parachute payments.. and their 25k capacity stadium.. who have been in either the Premier League or Championship for the last 12 years? Unfortunately this will happen. We will always lose our best players in the last year or at the end of their contracts to bigger clubs for little or no money. In the same way as we will continue to sign the best players of lesser clubs in the last year or at the end of their contracts. This won't change until our stature and resources improve.

Conteh , Hutchinson and Evans would have been a great midfield I think we need someone who would take Evans’ spot

I don't think we paid anything to sign Evans, anything we get is all profit.
As others have said, him only having a year left on his contract has kept the fee down.

I might be wrong but when AE arrived wasn’t it just a one year deal after he was without a club after leaving Germany and hadn’t shone on a previous league one loan? I don’t think there was much excitement when he joined and certainly no calls for him to be given a 3 or 4 year deal at that stage. When his one year contract expired it was a surprise to everyone that he signed a new deal as we all thought he’d leave as a free agent. We’ve had a bonus couple of seasons out of him and then picked up a fee - a bit less than I hoped for and gutted to see him leave as he’s a class player but he’s only worth what someone is willing to play. At least we’re looking like avoiding a saga that runs into the season. Just hope MT’s signings can fill the void.

Bring in a top keeper and striker with the bonus of anpther winger and the owners may be forgiven .Sit on the money for both Collins and Evans and the knives and doubt on their intentions remains out. We need these three new signings just to compete in this difficult league this season.
