If virtually everyone else is to be believed, we are much more likely to go down than be fighting for promotion. Not that they are reliable, but I've looked at a bunch of predictions, none have us in the top half of the table with the vast majority have us between 15th and 19th, although none have us to actually go down. all the ones I have seen have us between 11th and 15th. Feels about right. Tough league, but think we will compete. Really? Any links as I've seen none

The Guardian article could have been written by AI. Or an averagely attentive 15 year old. It’s coverage of non prem football is woefully predictable.

The week before a season is very difficult to predict exactly what will happen. The predictions above from the media seem to indicate a lower mid-table position. These outlets will be basing their predictions on the size of the club, perhaps betting predictions (again that mirrors the size of the club) and what happened last season. They will look at what clubs have spent. Don’t expect any main stream papers to accurately predict what will happen, most wouldn’t be able to name the EFL clubs. Most think football doesn’t exist outside the PL.
But for some clubs who’ve had a large turnover of players, like us, they have little to base predictions on. Almost anything can happen when you’ve got above 10 new players. It’s a complete mystery for us as much as the media.
UTG!

I think about 12-15th.
Never in real trouble, but apart from a few good runs never really any thoughts of the play offs.
A season of transition, bedding in new players and giving some of the younger players a bit of experience.
Just hope that if we are safe with a month to go, the youngsters like Dewsbury and Edwards get 3-5 games from the bench, like Kofi should have had last season and Jones the season before.

Bit of a stretch but I’d like to get a pint and a sausage roll in under 15 minutes

Good to see a lot of optimism on here, personally I think we will be battling relegation.

This looks like the toughest League 1 in a while. A lot of strong teams, no points deductions etc. I would be happy just to not be worrying about relegation. Mid table finish for me.

Anywhere between 10th and 18th I'd say. Doesn't strike me as a particularly weak or unbalanced squad as previous relegation seasons, we have a fairly nice start and performances will improve as the season goes on I think. UTG

So it’s time to review where we might finish at end of season. I think there’s more reason to be optimistic. This poll closes at end of August. Any more for play offs or better?
Lino Sousa: “The conversations with the manager and his team have been really good, really healthy and ambitious. You can really see that by the number of signings that have been made.
“Of course, it's exciting to be a part of a young and talented squad. To see driven players, I can’t wait to meet them; I’ve heard good things about them.
"You can see this is a very hard-working team. I'm happy to be here and I want to get experience and games under my belt, bring goal contributions and assists, help the club to achieve our aims this season."

Rich, I've already upgraded from stretching to groundbreaking. I'm not sure there's room for any more, maybe win the FA Cup too ?

Do you actually follow Rovers, as surely anybody who does would wait 24 hours before reviewing where we might finish at the end of the season, given tomorrow's game looks the toughest of the 3 league games we've played so far this season.

Does Rich "actually follow Rovers"? Come on Topper. Why does "away to Stockport (top of the league)" have to make a difference to the question? OK - wait until Sunday - but Rich will be happy with that. Get on the bus.

FWIW I don’t think finishing 11th or 12th would constitute a ‘disappointing’ season. It looks to me that MT and GF are building on a long term strategy, and this group will be (hopefully) stronger with time. For me a good season will be seeing signs of progress and being in a healthy position to make the leap into the top 6 with the foundations in place.
We have a very young squad overall and some potential gems coming through in Ward, Ellison, Shaw, Lawrence and Dewsbury.
Much prefer this current approach to the previous regime where we were promised instant success built on foundations of sand.

From what I have seen so far, we have been a little bit better than i expected. But at the moment it is obvious we are going to struggle for goals. There is plenty of effort and fight but a lack of quality in the midfield and forward areas. Losing Evans is a big loss, Hutchinson shows promise, but has nowhere near the quality of Evans. We are building a team from nearby scratch, I think 18th is about right, anything above that would be very good.
