I wouldn’t be surprised if they bomb this season. No recent experience of league 1 and buying the league (which they believe they are) is not always a free pass to promotion.

Good to see the EFL remain tight on FFP regulations

Good to see the EFL remain tight on FFP regulations "FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing up club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions" www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php

Team's team to shut up shop when coming up a against teams they perceive to be much, much stronger.
If they get loads and loads of draws the pressure will mount and then they will start to make mistakes they they will start to lose.
If you miss the automatics then the Play-offs is an absolute lottery.
It will be really interesting to see the FFFP if they are down for more than one season!

Always worth remembering Birmingham City may be ‘Big Boys’ to us, but we will be ‘Big Boys’ to others. 👍🏾

Always had a soft spot for brum, being the smaller blue team in a two team city, but given there charmless owners and the whole Rooney debacle I really hope bunging the cash around backfires massively on them

Big boys my arse. If they've got this sort of money they should have spent it in January and stayed up.
Sunderland took four years to go back up, surely bigger than the Bluenoses.

A lot of their fans are being arrogant on social media, when really they should be embarrassed to even be in the 3rd tier.

Brentford have demonstrated what is possible through smart thinking and a fairly innovative approach in numerous areas and out thinking opponents, rather than out spending them.
Lee Dykes, the club’s current Technical Director, who has been there since 2019 after joining from Bury, previously said: “Matthew [Benham, owner] will tell you himself that we never want to be in a position where we have to outspend our competitors – we out think them. That’s why it’s such an innovative club and everything recruitment wise is geared towards that philosophy.”
Are we trying to follow a similar approach? Up to 2021, the average age at which players were signed at Brentford in total since the 14/15 season averaged about 23-years-old. This season our signings average age is 23.3.

What remit was set for GF, sign any players you like just as long as our average age is <24? You have to sense there's more to Brentford's success than just signing young players?

Blues fans are mostly a nasty bunch, similar to 82'ers, whereas Villa tended to attract the Rovers type fans. The South Stand could be interesting when we play them!!

Of course there is more to it, but the emphasis was on players under 23 because of the potential sell-on value. We have added a coach in David Horseman with a background in development stuff to help nurture that talent and potential. “It comes down to not only being able to identify undervalued talent in the market but also we invest a lot in the development of players. We invest in different types of specialists, whether it be sleep coaches, kicking coaches, to try and raise the level of the players who come in." “The key is being able to identify undervalued talent in the market, develop them, and then sell them on for profit, gradually building more value into the squad and gradually increasing the level of the squad” said Rasmus Ankersen, former Brentford DoF.

We went down a similar route with BG then Wael panicked when it looked like we might get dragged into a relegation fight, it's OK signing kids but you also need wise heads in the team like TC to school them, I'm not sure if Wilson and Martin are wise heads or both hot heads, plus a decent manager and I haven't a clue if MT's really going to do any better than BG. I'm not sure paying £500K on PC is finding under developed talent to sell on, as we'll have to go some to get a profit from any future sale.

Over the past decade, Derby County,Ipswich Town,Sheffield Wednesday,Sheffield Utd,Sunderland and of course the biggest of them all Bristol City (1982) Ltd, have all taken more than one season to go back up again and are all backed by larger fan bases than Birmingham City have.Sheffield Utd took 6 seasons and Sunderland 4 seasons I believe.I think Rotherham will be best equipped this season with their very recent experiences of League 1, but going straight back up is a task numerous clubs of a higher standing than Birmingham City have failed to manage to do in the last 10 years.
