Forums are for opinions ! They are but some keyboard warriors like to throw grenades duck down and see what chaos happens!

I am praying that it works for him, not sure what manager would come in and immediately not have much scope to change the players as they are mostly on 3 year contracts now. Part of being a manager is having a personality and regardless of what you expect it does matter, its inspiring and gives identity. I think Taylor is professional and offers nothing you wouldn't expect to hear- It does make him boring. I get the impression he lets his hair down by having a half of bitter and doing the weekly crossword in the paper. - this is just my opinion, facts are that his recent record is not at all good so needs to improve for me to not care how boring he is I'm not fussed how he comes across on video/radio, all I want him to do is sign good players, train them well and choose a team and tactics that win matches. He can bore me to death in every post-match interview if he's got us three points more often than not...

A bit more respect for the man would certainly be good. He had an awful task coming in when he did and handled it well, all things considered.

Wasn’t Trollope a bit boring? Maybe Don Megson years before - both produced winning football teams!

My fave Gas manager was Ollie, has personality in abundance.
I think the point im making is that you do need a personality, last year he didnt have the results either so I think it felt even less inspiring.
if he wins every game 5-0 then he can read out the script of Mrs Browns Boys at he press conference for all I care

The jury still out ill judge the man by where we sit in the table come Christmas. My thoughts as well. Deserves a clean slate now he’s got his own squad together, although he’ll know we need a decent start to the season or the pitchforks will be out.

We’ve had good pre-seasons before. I think most people, Taylor included would expect to be judged on the actual season.

I supported Barton when he was manager and now I support Taylor, I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw last night, we made Plymouth look like they were league 1 and we were championship, need to remember this was a friendly but optimistic

MT didn't enthrall me last season.
New season, clean slate, and he's brought his own players in - I'm optimistic for some entertainment and decent results.

Even for Division1 Rovers have spent ‘peanuts’ on players when one takes into consideration the task ahead for this season! UTG.

Maybe he’s not a “fraud” Maybe he can motivate players Maybe he can assemble a good (better?) squad on a smaller budget. Looking forward to an exciting season Looking forward to the gaschat know it alls apologising (insert winky face) Lots of maybe’s there. Not exactly nailing your colours to MTs mast. Maybe like many of us you still need to be convinced Looking forward to whatever next season brings UTG

In the end it’s all about the team and the supporters, players and managers come and go but it’s a lifetime for us, so I’ll back Matt and the team until the wheels fall off ,or not, depending on your level of cynicism 😆, different strokes for different folks but always #UTG

Same here he didn't enthrall me either but clean slate for him this season his players this time so no excuses Looking on the plus side of him being "boring" he's brought some stability and normality back to club

Usually the root problem causing a manager/head coach to lose a job is because the squad has become a mess in one way or many others.
Changing the manager alone rarely resolves the problem in the short term because the root problem/mess is still there.
New managers rarely have a magic wand but in ignorance get labelled as sh** by fans who are clueless.
The root problem often needs a few windows, especially the summer window to make the changes which will turn the club around.
Too often fans don’t see or appreciate the complex issues behind the scenes but then again much gets kept behind closed doors. Some stuff will undoubtedly be employee confidential.
Maybe sometimes we just need to be more patient and more trusting that the professionals know what they are doing and recognise that sometimes there is no quick fix.
Good luck to MT. He has my backing.

We've spent well over a £1m, aside from the big spending top 3, Huddersfield, Bolton & Posh, who's spent more on transfer fees? If MT fails he can't say he hasn't been backed by the Board. We've had a decent summer transfer & pre-season results wise, hopefully that will continue when the season starts.

Good luck to MT. He has my backing. Or the owners need to think more about what they are doing instead of trying to change everything mid-season?

Judge him for next season. A good start but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. If we loose against Northampton it’ll be doom and gloom again. First 10 games will tell us.
