Barton always stirred up our hopes with flash statements but ultimately he only had a bluffers chance, what I believe we are seeing now is calm, rational and professional management. Genuinely excited about where this is heading, a real team with a real identity and not just some pillock loosing his beep when it doesn’t go his way.

Maybe he’s not a “fraud” Maybe he can motivate players Maybe he can assemble a good (better?) squad on a smaller budget. Looking forward to an exciting season Looking forward to the gaschat know it alls apologising (insert winky face) Maybe we need to judge this summer after we've played at least our first 3 games, as they all look tough games on paper. The signs are promising but no team gets points for winning pre-season games it's the league games which matter. Just going undefeated in those 3 games will be a good outcome.

Don't understand all this 'boring' M/T stuff, think in his interviews now he is much more positive and comfortable with life at Rovers, think he had a lot to deal with behind the scenes following JB's departure and he may have cut an exasperated figure last season ,he seems much happier with life here now he has had the chance to clear the decks and start again, he will do it his way and stand or fall by the results......like all football managers. surely all Rovers fans will be behind him from day 1 of new season.

I'm warming to his personality he makes total sense in his post match interviews.
Does seem a nice chap just want him more connected and firing up the fans more.

I would never call him any names, and I've got nothing against him being our manager, not bothered by his interviews but I'm just unsure of him as a manager, his playing style, if it works? ... Don't get me wrong I really hope he is successful, I want us to do really well. Add to the dissapointment of losing Collins and Evans and the poor end to the season. For me, I think he needs to win the fans over with results and performances on the pitch.

I'm pre season we have been playing out from the back more in some of the games. I think he's style changes, depending on the opposition and what players he has available.

I presume this Saturday will give us a good indication of what the formation and team selection will be for our opening league game?

You definitely need to be able to change style/tactics when needed, so being able to change is a huge plus. His style in league 2 for me was the perfect way to be successful, however I think league one, especially the top end, with teams that can play through you, when they've got that bit more quality. Only going by when we played Exeter in league one, I wasn't very impressed really, just frustrated with rovers for throwing away points, the high press certainly worked against us in those games.

Liverpool has been high press for years under Kloop, but you need quick players all round, one to defend one on one if they break the line and two, speed in attack who can take take advantage if you win the ball high. Think we may have the second, not so sure about our first…

He wasn't in charge for the game when we throw away points in League 1. His last game, was the game at theirs, when they played well and we nicked a late point. He left them in the top half of the table, so they were doing okay.

We shall soon find out how good Matt Taylor will be in spite of the bookies predicting a 15th placing finish!

We shall soon find out how good Matt Taylor will be in spite of the bookies predicting a 15th placing finish! Predicting a mid table finish is probably better than some fans were predicting at the end of last season? Although bookies can predict what they want it's what results we get which matters.

All the owners can reasonably expect is that we finish in a position which reflects our budget placing in the league - this now seems to be the ‘yardstick’ metric. Birmingham realistically should pi$$ the league - personally would be delighted if we finished top ten.

When the matches start we will have to win somewhere around as many matches as we lose. Realistically anything around the top ten would be good and perhaps a decent run at some stage to keep it exciting for a month or two. No idea about budgets except what’s said but he will need to perform in line with it UTG!

We shall soon find out how good Matt Taylor will be in spite of the bookies predicting a 15th placing finish! Bookies don't predict the results - they predict how much money they will win/lose if certain results happen. So (and like many recent seasons) we have lots of 'big teams' (and I use that term loosely) in League One and therefore lots of those fans will be placing £10 or £20 on them to win/get promoted/make the playoffs. The odds change based on who's betting what so all we really learn from the bookies predicating Rovers finishing 15th is that you will get decent odds on us finishing top ten/top six/top two...

I am not so sure Birmingham City will find Division1 a walkover and have an immediate Championship return. Big clubs like Sunderland, Bolton, Portsmouth, Ipswich etc, found the league tough!!
