[br Are you referring to the pub by the bridge in Bath (not far from Twerton)? I got as far as that a few times but never went to a game. I live in Bath and gave my money to the Share Scheme instead to help get us back to Bristol. Sadly it is now a block of flats. UTG! Nice, but er....no. intrigued by your post. Is it to do with Stockport fans? I was in a pub in Twerton when playing them and their fans caused a bit of a disturbance in the garden. Made a mistake really as they ended up running in to gardens to get away. Always remember it as thought why did they start? Not sure of the pubs name though🤷♂️

I think we can get a win here but it’s a toughy for sure. I’d bite your arm off for a draw.

County fan in peace. Firstly, thank you for the compliments on here. I'm not sure I'd go as far as calling us one of the toughest aways but it makes a nice change from just being branded a newly promoted side and fans fuming that they aren't beating the "likes of Stockport". Though if your team could underestimate us and lose that would be appreciated... No ground works at the moment. Later on in the season we're adding some temporary seats as next year (timing TBC I think) we will be starting some renovation work on the open air Railway End. Currently we give away sides 2 blocks of the Pop Side / Together Stand as we have to give covered seating. We're a home sellout for this other than about half of the Railway End which is a tough sell it's pretty sh**. Last season we always used it ourselves to get in some extra County fans. This season I expect we'll give it and 1 block of the Pop to the bigger followings like Bolton or Birmingham. Good to hear you're near a sellout too. (I doubt we can give more this late and segregation would be an issue.) Sounds like you like to play it and set up a similar way to us so it should be a good game and test of where we really are. Still looking for a forward? Hopefully your GK doesn't have a repeat of Rotherham! We're in good shape on and off the pitch, other than injuries. We were down to 13 outfield, senior players with 12 out for Cambridge (and 2 keepers and a 17 y.o. on the bench for Blackpool). I think we'll be able to name just about a full senior bench for your game, or maybe 1 short with 8 or 9 out and few in the squad short of minutes. We've coped we'll so far though. Don't worry about Barry. He's rubbish. Please pass that on to your management team. Happy with your squad and performances so far? Or a bit of rearguard action? Who are the players to look out for? There an away fan pub mate? Early opening ideally!

Great read. Only read the last few pages of the Bristol Rovers thread and it talked mainly about fans not knowing that Stockport County were back in the EFL. Nothing about the match

They seem confident, although they have only just come up so nothing to be scared of.
Edit: They just signed Oliver Norwood on a 3 year deal

if you told me stockport were in the football league i wouldnt have believed you let alone in league one Not sure whether you were being deliberately provocative, but you've sent the Stockport forum into a tailspin.
Solidarity with long term football league clubs who've emerged back from the non-league is not a bad thing IMO.

Yeah id rather see money pumped into proper clubs like them rather than the Salfords and Fleetwoods of the world. We did it without spending much though!!

There an away fan pub mate? Early opening ideally! Not a prematch drinker so probably not the best person. There must be an away pub - I think it was Nelson Tarvern for Cambridge. I suspect most of the places on Edgeley are full of County but there's plenty of decent places near the market in Stockport - Petersgate Tap is nice. Heard good things about The Magnet too.

Edit: They just signed Oliver Norwood on a 3 year deal In good form, recruited well and backed by quite a few to be more than a "newly promoted side". Orient, Northampton and Stevenage gave a good account of themselves. That said, nothing can be drawn from 2 games and we're really struggling with injuries. 10 out for Saturday confirmed today and a few doubts too, so worse than feared and we'll have 2 keepers and/or a kid on the bench. So Norwood is a welcome addition! 3 years, bit of surprise but seems to be what was needed to fight off other interest. We've also lost some experience over the summer and recruited young. No one 30 or over played in the last 2 league games.

Think some are a bit sensitive. We got a lot of "I can't believe we've lost to the likes of Stockport" after Blackpool and these are the type games vs the newly promoted sides we need to take points from Cambridge fans.

Edit: They just signed Oliver Norwood on a 3 year deal That's both a strange and massive signing for L1 as surely he's still good enough for Championship football, when he played 27 games in the Premiership last season, although a 3 year contract for a 33 year seems a long one, hopefully he doesn't start tomorrow.

He might make the bench as Stockport I understand can barely name a full bench. Whether he features is another matter. He has done well to earn a 3 year deal close to home at his age

Still remember the team they had the last time they were in league 1 (think Jim Gannon was the manager) and they had players like Pilkington, baker, blizzard etc. and thought at one point they were even gonna get promoted, but then all the money troubles started and been a long road back since. They’ve got a good side and that Barry will surely be playing championship football soon. If you gave me a point now I’d take it.

Have they got wealthy backers?
Wrexham and them seem pumped up Vanarama teams on the up and up 👌

Enjoy it now lads but would be worried if we did something like that for a 33 year old.
