As predicted by myself weeks ago on here… We’ll sign a youngster with little experience from a championship side Then he's messed up Taylor. The board have given him the best budget in history . He's had two record signings in 2024 : spent big fees on players unlike any other manager and signed 16 in 2024. I think an experienced striker is coming . “Best budget in our history” ….. means nothing if the budget just rises with inflation every yr , then it’d be our best budget ever .

Surely first of two strikers in …
Although second one could be from the free market maybe.
I think there is at least one more signing today possibly.

Oxford fans seem very surprised he's signed for a L1 club.
They thought he needed regular minutes in the NL or L2 and don't think he's likely to get that in L1.
2 goals in 51 league one appearances is not exactly prolific.
I don't know much about him but reading comments from Oxford fans, he sounds a bit like Loft. Puts himself about but not much technical ability or composure in front of goal.
Hopefully, he's been signed to give us another option from the bench and there's another attacking signing to come later today.

He's broke two record signings in 2024 costing around 900k. He paid compensation packages for Hutchinson & storitu . Rotherham said " we couldn't match the wages of Gas " . Clubs are saying we are big spenders . For Bristol Rovers he's been given a big budget .

Welcome Gaitlin. An attacking option in the squad.
Surely with Martin injured we will be after someone else, or maybe not and we will make do until he returns.

I really hope he smashes it but I don’t like this at all. If he’s excellent he slots straight back in at Oxford & we’ve ONCE AGAIN developed another clubs talent. If he flops, we’ve sold ourselves short on a loan player.

Rotherham have said " we can't match Gas wages ". Barnsley said " we can't afford Gas fees on promise ". Managers are saying " we spent money ". I accept we are not a Brum or Bolton . Reading between the lines we are competing with clubs around play offs . Taylor been giving a budget in top 8 IMO.

I don’t think we are a hard to please bunch of fans or have too high expectations, it’s just this is a bit underwhelming. No one is expecting us to get the top strikers in L1 but when we are clearly crying out for goals, this signing doesn’t seem to be the answer and it looks like there are better options out there. Have we explored those options and been pushed back? Possibly. But when you look at some of the other strikers teams around us are signing as well as the free agent market, I think we could have done better.
But I will get behind him 100%, as long as he also puts in 100% and it sounds like he will.

There’s been lots of talk that lots of clubs in our division this season have big budgets.

We are allowed to be critical of the club. Some could do with remembering that.
Has been many a time in our history where if we would have been a little more critical and a little less happy clappy we may have avoided a few disasters!
Anyway, wish this guy well, but it is clearly a very underwhelming signing. If we conclude today's business without adding another striker who has hit 10/15 in a season it has been a very bad day and I worry where the goals are going to come from.

Mate of mine who’s an Oxford fan says he’s not bad on the wing but when playing upfront he can’t stay on his feet. Anyway good luck to him.

On the face of it this ranks as one of the oddest signings ever !!

Your first line would be a good point if gaschat (and even more Rovers X and Facebook) wasn’t 90% critical of the club and less than 1% happy clappy!

He has only started 9 games, the rest are off the bench so 2 in 51 whilst true doesn't tell the whole story
