Oxford fans seem very surprised he's signed for a L1 club. They thought he needed regular minutes in the NL or L2 and don't think he's likely to get that in L1. 2 goals in 51 league one appearances is not exactly prolific. I don't know much about him but reading comments from Oxford fans, he sounds a bit like Loft. Puts himself about but not much technical ability or composure in front of goal. Hopefully, he's been signed to give us another option from the bench and there's another attacking signing to come later today. 😆 View AttachmentShows how unfair it can be to judge him on his role at Oxford though.. as he was clearly used to take the ball into the corner and he’s unlikely to blast one in from 90 degrees!

Surely first of two strikers in … Although second one could be from the free market maybe. I think there is at least one more signing today possibly. In your opinion, would that one more signing be another attacking option or goalkeeper because I definitely feel we need another keeper in Keeper today must surely be on the cards and Striker next week or following week from the free agent list UNLESS George has pulled a rabbit Striker out of the hat with a late one.

Forgive them they know not what they do. Just hope this fella a cover signing, and the main man is on his way to Almondsbury this afternoon. Sigh and relax.

On the face of it this ranks as one of the oddest signings ever !! If we go and sign a proven goalscorer to compliment him and the other young raw strikers we have then fair enough, if we end the day and he is our only signed striker it is a disaster frankly. Following still available on free transfers and would all gurante goals at this level. Scott Hogan Connor Wickham Dwight Gayle Martin Waghorn All of these still available on free transfers and with the season now a few weeks old I would imagine all would be starting get a little nervous at not having a contract...

I sincerely hope Friend & Taylor know what they're doing here because from afar, this seems far from the signing we need.
Lets see what happens, but I am fully expecting another striker to come in today.

When he's had a run of starts (end of last season with Barnet) he scored 6 in 12 starts for a team that was already doing well and finished second in their league. Not seen him play at all but purely based on career stats he is up and coming and potentially we might have got him at the right time for both him and us....

Strange one this but could work out. Seen him play plenty of times. Big physical lad who is not the most technical gifted footballers in the world. He always did well going through the Academy age groups but this was because he just used to run through people and leather it! Saw him play at Barnet last season in the same game Greenslade played for Oxford City. They both scored that day but very different players. More of a 9 Fox in the box player than anything else and will give centre backs a hard time but needs more to his game as only seem him affective when running towards Goal. Time will tell and it could be good if given the chances. Thanks gassedOut. IMHO, the most informative post thus far. Great that playing regularly at Barnet, he has played "mans" football, but interestingly normally played only 60/65 minutes and only played 90 mins once. One goal every 131 mins for a team that finished second in NL and most likely an impact sub. For those interested, this link shows the data and highlight clips of each game, so people can judge for themselves. thefishy.co.uk/team-results.php?team=Barnet&season=21UTG

He's broke two record signings in 2024 costing around 900k. He paid compensation packages for Hutchinson & storitu . Rotherham said " we couldn't match the wages of Gas " . Clubs are saying we are big spenders . For Bristol Rovers he's been given a big budget . We also lost Collins for 800k and Evans for 500k in the last 8 months. He’s arguably still in profit! mmmm what about the c£4m we lose each year ? Do the owners have a money tree ..... lol

Which makes me believe there is capacity for another striker today. I'm sure under 21s aren't included in the EFL rules of squad sizes. Otherwise: Taylor would of said the budget is now exhausted and there is no more room in the squad. Eg. 8 homegrown players and under 21s are not counted towards the 22 squad ( EFL rules).

But….. if 14 other teams in our league have a bigger budget it doesn’t mean a lot What 14 teams ?. Rotherham have said " we can't match Gas wages ". Barnsley said " we can't afford Gas fees on promise ". Managers are saying " we spent money ". I accept we are not a Brum or Bolton . Reading between the lines we are competing with clubs around play offs . Taylor been giving a budget in top 8 IMO. I will be amazed if Rotherham and Barnsley don’t have bigger budgets than us…

In addition Rotherham admitted they couldn't afford Lindsay wages and Barnsley and Wrexham pulled out of the fee for Promise. The point is Taylor have been giving a very competitive budget much higher than most expected.

For God's sake, all you whingers just continue to bleat on and on about what the club should be doing. For once, get behind the club. If this move doesn't work out, some of you need to step forward and offer your services 'cause it seems the fan base is full of bloody experts.

I was hoping for someone with an eye for a goal. This feels a lot like the summer of 2020 under Garner where we were well short of goals after signing Hanlan as our number 9.
These are Omochere and Gatlin’s stats in the league:
Apps - 180 Goals - 29 (16 spread across non-league and the League of Ireland)
Thats roughly 1 in 6 at a lower standard than league one. This is pretty alarming.
Surely we are still in the market for a goalscorer?

Never happy some people.
Signed Matty Taylor, some underwhelmed
Signed Jason Roberts, many thought he couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo
