I posted before the season started, to completely change the team is a massive gamble, especially when expecting young inexperienced players to hit the ground running. Think it's unfair to judge any of them on less that half a season, some of our best signings in history took at least half a season to get up to speed. This is exactly why in my opinion we are struggling and will continue to struggle regardless of the manager. Experienced pros seem able to slot into a side and show their best form relatively quickly. We are desperate for a leader in midfield, and an experienced keeper. If we are relegated, our lack of experience will be to blame. There are a lot of changes in personnel but is the squad and our signings that young and inexperienced? Yes, only Lindsay and Moore are over 25 and have 100+ L1 appearances?

Who are these young inexperienced players we’ve signed? As far as I’m concerned that’s another myth perpetuated by the managers post match press each time we lose!! Wigan had an average age of 23.1 compared to Rovers' 24.6 and beat us 4-0. Barnsley beat us with an average age of 25.8 compared to our 25.7. Rovers beat Northampton with an average age of 26.6. Northampton's was 28.4. Newly promoted Stockport had exactly the same average age and beat us convincingly. Where's the link to that stat as it seems a bit of a coincidence that the ages where the same down to 0.1?

Wilson and Martin at 35 are clearly pushing the average age up, whereas only Norwood was over 33 in Stockport's starting 11, they had far more 25+ yr old players than we did in their starting 11 at 7 v just 4 for us.

It's not just the age of the players, it's the amount of new players. Many were tipping Rotherham to do well, due to the amount of experienced players they signed including JCH. How are they doing at the moment?
The teams that generally get off to the best start, normally have a now settled squad. Obviously there are always exceptions to that rule. But it's not just in football. All new teams put together, take time to gel. It's obvious the more you work with someone, the better you know them, the more you can use their strengths and you can try and improve weaknesses or find ways around them.

The age issue deflects from Taylor's abysmal management and appalling stats and underlying data. In the squad we have players like Wilson, Hunt, Moore, Ward, Lindsay, McCormick, Sinclair and Sotiriou with hundreds of EFL games experience between them, Even Griffiths has 100+ EFL games under his belt, Hutchinson 160 EFL apps, Taylor approaching 100 etc. Taylor is the problem with his team selections, tactical ineptitude, mind numbing abysmal football and pathetic 1.11 PPM from 36 matches.

Hunt, Ward & Lindsay have been injured for most of this season, Saturday being the first time all 3 appeared in the squad. Nobody can seem to get McCormick to perform at the Mem and Sotiriou finally had a decent game on Saturday.

You’re genuinely the most selective person I’ve ever come across.
Ward has started 6 and come on as sub once in the 8 league games so 7 of the 8, Lindsay has been involved in 5 of the 8 so unless you’re suggesting we’ve had players on the bench who aren’t fit enough to play I’m not sure of your point?
Hunt has been fit since the second game but has not been selected. That’s been confirmed by MT himself and so that’s entirely down to him.
MT was playing the ‘inexperience’ card from the first friendly onwards and has regularly made reference to “not knowing what you’ll get for the 90 mins” and “this group plays like a development side” which I found a baffling way to talk about your own team in the media.
He set a tone and now the confirmation bias he experienced in his head is convincing him that he was right. It’s why he makes so many subs and makes so many changes. It takes one thing for him to see that convinces his brain it’s happening all the time.
I’d fully expect someone who wasn’t even in the squad Saturday to make a start again tomorrow.
Randomness.

Stockport might have signed 16, but at least one of those was their last season. Plus they had a good core of players, who have been there a while. 2 centre backs there last season and know each others games. Some of the midfield and attack there as well. If you have a good core already, it's easier to build around it. I expect it's the same with a lot of those other clubs. We have no stability at all. In most of the games, if not all, less than half of the team were here last season. In some of the games only 2 players were here, this time last season. How many players were here 2-3 years ago? Nobody has been here and done it with the club. I don't think any of the squad were here the season before last. How many clubs can you say that about?

I'm not against bringing in younger hungrier players, but it's a fine balance. I think having an experienced spine of the team is important, ie an experienced keeper, a leader in the middle of the park. It's also about having experience at league one level as we have a few players who have most of their experience in the league below. Stockport bringing in the likes of Norwood was extremely shrewd, shows that they believe they needed experience. He's exactly the type of player we need at the moment.

Is that the standard criteria or just randomly picked to suit you? Hutchinson is 24 and has over 150 games as a pro, Griffiths 23 and over 100 games as a pro - I wouldn’t consider these as kids caught like rabbits in headlights and scared to play league one in front of 8000 crowds. People are just looking for excuses - loads of teams have high turnover of players and loads have young squads. Bottom line is the manager is crap and getting nowhere even remotely close to getting the best out of the players (that’s the case whether it’s the previous managers players which he said were excellent when he arrived or the ones he’s bought in himself). He has no excuses and is on borrowed time.

The manager and closely followed by Hutchinson - league 2 at best, and that was MT’s replacement for Evan’s 🙄

The manager and closely followed by Hutchinson - league 2 at best, and that was MT’s replacement for Evan’s 🙄 A goal every 565 minutes to beat and you’re writing him off after 258 minutes….we shall see….im not writing him off yet…a lot will depend on how brave MT gets cos Evans record under the same manager was very very poor….3 goals in his last 2000+ minutes for MT….a goal nearly every 700 minutes…. I don’t mind Evans. He’s a very good player, there’s no question about that, but we’re asking someone to live up to a memory not a reality and using it as a stick to beat the recruitment up with.

The manager and closely followed by Hutchinson - league 2 at best, and that was MT’s replacement for Evan’s 🙄 Was it MT's or GF's/the VP's, given our recruitment policy seems a complete mystery? I'd be surprised if Hutch was MT's choice given yesterday hardly plays him.

He has no excuses and is on borrowed time. Hutchinson has never played a L1 game in the past, if it's that easy to make the transition then why bother signing L1 players, when we can just go out and sign 16 L2 players and save a fortune on wages. Until MT departs we'll never know if it's down to his poor management or like with BG the players signed simply aren't good enough.
