If the statement of "if he wins he stays if he loses he goes " is used . It suggests that there is no faith in a managers abilities and that its just kicking the can down the road. You either have confidence in a manager or not. If you do have confidence the result doesnt matter so much. If you lack confidence then a replacement is needed as soon as possible. No it doesn't, and its a bit small minded to tell a bunch of fans that their opinion is wrong or invalid. For me its win or he's gone. I want to give the manager as much time as possible with his own team, I don't believe a new manager will improve much and a lot of these players came here under his leadership. Changing manager is unlikely to fix anything and we'll be saying how the new boss needs their own squad.. rinse and repeat. If you look at Exeter last season, their manager was losing games 7-0 and the board even put out a statement saying that he has to improve or he's gone. Now look at them fly. With our budget, crowds and new team, I'd be content with a 15th placed finish. But there needs to be a clear distinction betweem the bottom teams and us. So far, the bottom teams we've faced, we've been better. But if we can't beat Shrewsbury at home then sadly I'll no longer have the belief that MT can keep us above the relegation teams and that change would perhaps be needed. Win on Tuesday and we've picked up 9 from 12, we'd be 15/16th and 8 points above relegation with a game in hand. That'd give us 16 points from 11 games, carry that on over the season and we'd have 66 points. The only time we've got more than 66 points in the last 8 years is when we were promoted from L2. In fact, the last time we had more than 66 points and weren't promoted that season was in 97/98. Win on Tuesday and perhaps the world isn't actually going to end... Are you suggesting my opinion is wrong or invalid ?

If you had bought an early bird, Adult ST on the terraces, BRFC get (£359/23) = £15.60 per game. So if ST are down 1,500 x £15.60 = £23,413 in lost gate receipt income If we have only dropped by 500 on the gate, on average 1,000 of those potential ST holders are probably paying the general sale price. Let's say Cat B of £20, so BRFC are getting 1,000 x £20 = £20,000. Not an exact science, but just over £3k lost + of course food / drink profit. In the scheme of the £3m+ p.a. losses, someone just looking at the numbers might not be as concerned as some on here. Have a good run, with people turning up for big Cat A games and we might actually make more gate receipts than last year, but will not make a dent in the losses the owners are funding. Tbh this is a really good point. I was also thinking this when I posted but you’ve detailed it very well. I guess ST sales overall tell a tale of fan positivity though and the issues is we never really know the true attendance these days with the way they’re counted I’ve long given up on relying upon official attendance figures. I’ve been to every home home this season and it’s very visible how much space is free on the terraces and many empty seats. Whereas ST holders made sure to never miss a game before plenty are now less bothered and picking and choosing - same with the occasional/casual pay on the day fans (who would come along when there is so much chatter online and in pubs, workplaces etc saying how poor the football is?). There needs to be change to revitalise both the players and fans to get some fresh energy and positivity around the club. If you combined that with an overdue update on the ground renovation the good ship Rovers can be turned around 🤞

One thing that annoys me the most is the way Taylor bums up the opposition so much before every game, yesterday Huddersfield had INCREDIBLE players, really? His pre match talk must make the players feel we are playing Man City, they must feel a 3. 1 defeat is a good result against such incredible players Yes it's fair enough having respect for the opposition but we are all in L1 for a reason. Everyone is beatable and we should ALWAYS play to win. Its only really Brum that have standout players. I bet if someone shagged his Mrs he would still make him breakfast

Blimey, this is all a bit miserable! I’m looking forward to tomorrow, under lights at the Mem, chance to go up the league. I’d imagine there will be a good atmosphere with the opposition having several ex-players. Of course performances have been a bit inconsistent but win tomorrow and it will make it 3 league wins out of 4 not that I’m taking anything for granted. Reading this place atm I’d have thought we were anchored to the foot of the table, instead of having a chance to go higher after tomorrow.
Sacking MT! People appear to love spending other people’s money. We’re already paying for JB+ and they want MT sacked so we can be paying for 3 lots of management teams! Absolute madness. In the end it will be the results that decide if MT stays or goes. Lower mid table and he’ll be ok, lower and he’ll be in danger.
It’s easy to support us after the D/R and Scunthorpe matches and when we go up but harder when we have a run of bad results. But it’s those times when the manager, players, club need the support more than ever instead of the continual moaning we seem to have at the moment.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to tomorrow night and hopefully 3 points. COYB!
UTG!

So the real factor will be the revenue which is tied to results with a backdrop of entertainment value. The crowd tomorrow will be what 6500?

I said at the start that MT should be given until the end of October, so I guess that's only a week away now.
I remain torn, we can't keep chopping and changing the team, and that also applies to the manager and coaching staff.
Only those behind the scenes know if there is a problem, what that problem is, and how to resolve it.

Can’t really argue with that except that if football in general and BRFC specifically were a business in the normal sense of the term then everyone would bring a different approach to almost everything to do with it. We wouldn’t spend an absolute fortune on players, management team etc only to throw the whole plan out 6/9/12 months later. Madness. The culture spreads and filters down from the top (PL). Now we have a new deadline of 30th June when clubs have to show no greater losses than some stupid figure dreamt up from somewhere. It’s acceptable to have losses over 3 years of £130m or whatever it is. And everyone else is being stupid just to keep up! It’s crazy and a case of the Emperors new clothes. Everyone seems to aspire to the PL. Why? Honestly why? (Sorry ‘79, not aimed at you but we’re not a ‘normal’ business are we? But I agree with what you’ve replied to me as to the financial pressures we are under.) UTG!

Let’s pretend we win and move to 16 points and 15/16th in the table. (Humour me!) Would you really agree with sacking a manager with us in mid table? I don’t know what your expectations for the season were but I’d be surprised if any fans (apart from some on here) would think it a reasonable decision to get rid of him were that to happen. And I don’t think our owners are that stupid so in that eventuality I don’t think it would happen. As ever it will be time and results that decide it. UTG!

Think a few fans just loved having a ‘name’ manager in Barton and crave for those days again. The reality is if we do sack Taylor at this point we’re more than likely end up with someone else with a similar if not worse cv . We’re just not that attractive as a football club to attract a big name and we only got Barton because 99% of other clubs wouldn’t touch him. It’s not a great start to the season but it’s no where near as bad as some are making out.

The owner chose to sack JB and that was apparently due to results not the fanbase (in the ground at least) demanding change, they chose to appoint MT which seems to be a big mistake and one they need to pay for financially. The results and performances have been consistently awful - persevering with him when there is no real sign of progress doesn’t make sense to me. If you could see a pattern of play or consistency of tactics that gave some cause for optimism then yes let’s be a bit more patient but there just isn’t any sign of light at the end of this tunnel. I’ve also been reliably informed that the players simply don’t like him - I’m not saying that means they are downing tools (consciously at least) but their lack of confidence and lack of belief in their managers ability doesn’t bode well.

Because most managers do, even Barton did. Grow some balls and take some ownership. Simple 👍. Never thought I'd see those two in the same sentence. Absolutely hilarious. Well done. He was an idiot and a fool to himself but working for free at a rough point of the season, walking over to Acknowledge the fans despite being called all sorts of names is more than Taylor would have done. If he was paid off now to walk I truly believe he would take it.

Wonder how that stacks up against the price of going down? Crowds were 1500 higher when he took over...the Taylor effect! How'd you work that out, by comparing a Tuesday to a Saturday game? Let’s make it a bit fairer, Cheltenham first game was 8.3k and the Wycombe home game on a Saturday was 7.8k. Id take a guess that Wycombe brought probably 400+ less than Cheltenham did too, but I could be wrong. What next, shall we compare Cheltenham to the pizza cup attendances? No doubt attendances are dropping a bit right now, but let’s not just make stuff up, eh? Last season since MT took over we averaged 8715, this season (excluding pizza cup) we are averaging 7759- nearly down 1k. Apologies I was out by 500.

I did not renew our season tickets after many decades this season, I have no faith in Taylor and none is the new owners. We did attend the Wigan fiasco and walked out with 15-20 minutes to go, something we have ever done before. And we have been attending games since 1966, and sadly will not be back anytime soon.

Then you have the lost of ST incomes: sponsorship and overall attendances . You could be looking at around £1 million plus easily if we get relegated. The club would need to take everything into account in budgeting the expenditure on managers etc and lost of income if relegated. This game v shrews is massive . A win would see us go 8-9 points clear. A defeat would see us in dogfight. The question is can Taylor keep us up based on his record for almost a year ?
