I find these views staggering.
North of the river is traditionally Gas, Bris, and Glos cricket. For Rovers fans to be hoping that Bristol lose is quite sad really, and as someone who is in Wircester tonight, it makes it even harder to take.
Perhaps the traditional feelings to support the teams from where you were born/brought up are being eroded.

After we took control of the ground the bitterness and rumours from the rugby fanbase was harsh. This coupled with the whole franchise thing and changing kits is enough for people to now have a dislike. Most of those probably looked out for results rather than attended games mind.

Don't forget you can see top rugby at the Mem in the summer, when all three West Country premiership Rugby teams will be playing - perhaps Glos will put big posters up near Ashton Gate to let people know ......

Yep I was having some food in the pub earlier and was gutted Bristol were winning, then to look at bbc sports and see the score...get in!
I'm not in to club rugby but my gf's dad is into it and supports Exeter Chiefs. I watched the last game of the season with him and said I will go and watch them next season.
Bristol can do one!

Feeling the Blues
Gas by a long way, but shocked and saddened by some of the stuff on here.
Some of the posters on here need to take a long hard look at themselves if they're true Bristolians.

I just happen to hate rugby and its pompous fans (not all obviously). As it happens i couldnt give two fooks about basketball or ice hockey either. Im a rovers fan and thats it, by your thinking i should want the sh*t to do well also. No chance.

When you grew up near Bath in the 80's, being a Rovers fan (playing at Twerton) and a Bath fan (best team in country) was pretty logical!

Sorry - I don't think it is a pre-requisite to support a team which is part of the Bristol City franchise to be a Bristolian, anymore than it is compulsory to be a City fan......

By that logic, we should all support Bristol City too. Unfortunately, I won't support Lansdown's attempt to monopolise sport in Bristol. It's a shame that Bristol Rugby felt they had to go down that route in order to get some success, but there we go. And they've not even got that. At times it seems that we're the only sporting organisation left standing who hasn't been franchised. 'Well done Bristol Sport for winning League One, but commiserations to Bristol Sport for failing to get promoted to the Rugby Premiership. Hopefully Bristol Sport can also kick on in the Women's Super League'.

Do you think Leicester fans want Leicester Tigers to lose, or Northampton want the Saints to lose? Or Forest want Nottingham to lose, or Cov City want Coventry to lose??
Of course *in not.

I'm a true bristolian from south Gloucestershire formerly Avon. Used to want Bristol Rugby to do well, not any more. I am not a huge rugby fan though. There are loads of rovers/Bristol fans that are gutted btw. Chill out!

Oh dear. Any gasheads still fans? Very bitter sweet with the tax dodger being in charge. Plus they played in red tonight! red? really. Dam hell, even the mayor has stopped wearing red. It's...like... sooooooooooo yesterday Maybe them and Wycombe can go to one of those self-help groups; Bottlers Anonymous I think they are called. From the Bath Chron - "Andy Robinson's side blew a 14-point lead with nine minutes to go in Wednesday night's second leg at Sixways as Worcester scored two converted tries – the second of them in the last minute – to draw level at 30-30 and win 59-58 on aggregate."

Most Rovers fans are not real Rugby fans and Vice Versa. To be honest if the whole sport of rugby ceased to exist tomorrow I couldn't care less. My beef with Bristol rugby is that we paid £2.3m for half their ground, which was the same price as Amtrak we're going to pay for all of it. Then they went bust and we protected their arses by guaranteeing them a home at attractive rent yet all we got in return was a load of abuse and their new owner demanding we sell half back to them for £10k. Then most of their fans aided and abetted by the fans of their new owner accused us of stealing their ground! So, as a non Rugby fan I can honestly say I don't like them very much!

I've had a big dislike for bristol, i've had it for years , i've seen bristol and bath from a different side and bristol as a club are so up themselves it's untrue, bath on the otherhand are very down to earth. it's not a case of supporting your home town club ,it's more a question of finding the local club that you feel most comfortable with

What do they expect when he has been 'secretly' involved in them for years, then encourages them to re-locate to Trashton [south of the River last time I checked], & puts them in the Bristol Sport franchise. And play in red tonight apparently. It's not a million miles away from the MK Dons issue, except the distance issue. They are now 'south of the river'. You make your bed, and lie in it. People now born south of the river will start supporting them, and people north of the river will support...? Not sure... But dynamics will certainly change, and already have. Oh, and they also gave out free scarfs at the Trashton game. It will be drums next... As an ex-Bath supporter I am biased though.
