I find these views staggering. North of the river is traditionally Gas, Bris, and Glos cricket. For Rovers fans to be hoping that Bristol lose is quite sad really, and as someone who is in Wircester tonight, it makes it even harder to take. Perhaps the traditional feelings to support the teams from where you were born/brought up are being eroded. I've had a big dislike for bristol, i've had it for years , i've seen bristol and bath from a different side and bristol as a club are so up themselves it's untrue, bath on the otherhand are very down to earth. it's not a case of supporting your home town club ,it's more a question of finding the local club that you feel most comfortable with Yes just as in the same way that if Rovers went bust we would all find a local club we felt comfortable with. I would guess that not many of our mainly Bristolian support base would feel comfortable in supporting the club that would remain as Bristol's only professional club?

Feeling the Blues Gas by a long way, but shocked and saddened by some of the stuff on here. Some of the posters on here need to take a long hard look at themselves if they're true Bristolians. By that logic, we should all support Bristol City too. Unfortunately, I won't support Lansdown's attempt to monopolise sport in Bristol. It's a shame that Bristol Rugby felt they had to go down that route in order to get some success, but there we go. And they've not even got that. At times it seems that we're the only sporting organisation left standing who hasn't been franchised. 'Well done Bristol Sport for winning League One, but commiserations to Bristol Sport for failing to get promoted to the Rugby Premiership. Hopefully Bristol Sport can also kick on in the Women's Super League'. not just seems like, we are, unless you count Gloucestershire CCC, which I imagine would be more difficult for even him to grasp. The basketball is the one that wateres me off, as I like the game. TBH it was a very clever move though. basketball in Britain is one of few sports where money really can quite easily buy success; and success brings crowds. Whereas motorsport really is like chucking your money down an open sewer.

Ordinarily I would support any team that represents Bristol with the exeption of teams who play their home games at Trashton or who are part of lansdowns sporting empire. I think that only leaves us as Bristols only independant professional team.

Yes, don't get me wrong, I don't go to Trashton, just away games, which is hard when you've supported them all your life, but to want them to lose??
Have s look at yourselves.

Sorry - I don't think it is a pre-requisite to support a team which is part of the Bristol City franchise to be a Bristolian, anymore than it is compulsory to be a City fan...... A True Bristol Rugby team plays in blue and white, they played in red both legs didn't they? Plus several other home games. You won't be seeing any blue seats going into the redeveloped AG as promised by the rugby clubs board to sell the move to its fans, the club will change to a red kit. Very traditional for for you true Bristolians!

It's an emotive issue whichever side of the fence you are on, i used to watch bristol regularly when rafter was playing, but as i said when i saw the club as they truly were, i lost any support i had for them, at the same time i had some dealing with bath rugby club and it could not have been different. bath had that feel of your local club side, so wanting them to lose is not a geographical issue for me or nothing to do with being born n bred in bristol, it's me wanting them to lose on the same level i want city to lose

Meh...score more points than Worcester and go up...it's not that hard, and whilst I don't care at all, I care even less now they're under the Bristol Sport umbrella....

I liked them until they joined Bristol Sport. Even when I went to watch them, I was a Rovers fan first and a Bristol fan second. Now that they're joined at the hip to Franchise FC, I wouldn't bat an eyelid if they were liquidated. I'll happily wish them well if they escape, but until then, they're the enemy. It's not so much about my dislike of City as a club, but more the idea of sports conglomerates - they're symptomatic of what's wrong with sport today, and need to be stamped out.

It's the same for me too. I don't wish them to loose I just don't really care about them anymore. I used to follow their Twitter account but they kept retweeting city tweets and congratulating them on winning, getting promotion, talking about joint season tickets etc. They are slowly making the transition to the red shirt. Recently wearing it at home when there has been no clash with home kits. It must be costing them a fortune, big name high paid players having to spend another season in the second division where I doubt you make any money at all

The morning after the night before and I've just got up and "looked at myself" in the mirror... ... I can confirm that Bristol's f**k up is still hilarious. Maybe you should look at yourself? Telling Rovers football fans to look at their selves because they couldn't care less about some egg chasing jokers who have never given anything but sh*t to Rovers fans, before f**king off south of the river to get in bed with the tax dodging Special lady garden that owns our bitter rivals. Behave yourself FFS.

I sympathise for the proper rugby fans, must have felt like the Dover away game which I and many others experienced...
Not a rugby fan, but thoroughly enjoyed the game, and they probably deserved to win.
Having said that, the lansdown side note does add a touch of comedy to them collapsing in the last minute again

I agree with you PureGas. I wanted Bristol to win as i'm local, not a big Rugby fan but wanted to see them do well. They have lost so many times in the playoffs and the last two years finished top of the Division, they totally deserve to go up. The Ashton Gate/City/Lansdown factor is the reason this thread was started i'm afraid, a lot of people on here say City are obsessed with us, believe me it sometimes appears it's vice-versa.

Let's be honest. Bristol Sport-the whole lot of them-will grow in strength and size. The associated clubs will get better and achieve success in the long term due to investment and a well put together operation. The small satisfaction on here won't last long because I expect the teds, the rugby and the others to do pretty well again next season.
Us on the other hand, have fewer guarantees and our future and success is largely based on luck and chemistry.
At least that's how I see it. I used to play alot of monopoly and he with all the properties usually goes on to win in the end.

As an exiled Bristolian from the age of nine (now 51)I always looked out for all things bristol (one exception, obviously) and was proud to do so. The fact that they sold out to that lot south of the river, and their board has clearly sold their soul as well (red, ffs!!) Means they are no better than the other lot, and therefore no longer exist as bristol rugby.

The thread was started on the back of Bristols latest failure. - Pretty sad though starting a thread about another team losing on a Forum called GasChat, but each to their own. The teds start and contribute to threads about us everyday! - And don't we know it, someone starts a thread about it regularly... So to show we are so much better than them we do the same - Good show. If you like rubbing peoples noses in it, just be prepared for the karma. Each to their own though all about opinions.
