Aussies 136 all out & 168 for 7 England 281 all out Close: Aussies lead by 23 runs How many do think they'll get? They will do well to put on another 100 I think. Then we've got 2 and a half days to pick up about 150. Surely we can't f**k this one up.

A great victory that which put's us 2-1 up in the series with two to play.
Always nice to thrash the Aussies. But they will be busting a gut to put it right at Trent bridge next week.

It's a shame about Anderson being injured, as Trent Bridge is usually where he dominates. Wood to come back in I would have thought.

Lyth out cheaply again. He has to be dropped. Do you have a victim in every team?

He already has one Test century this summer against a very good New Zealand attack. He has consistently scored runs in County Cricket. The mistake made was not selecting him in the winter against the West Indies, but instead going for Trott. I think we have to stick with him. Yes he is struggling, but an Ashes series is the hottest place in which to start your Test career. Hopefully, he is learning from his mistakes and will progress and become stronger.
The next question is who would you have to replace him? I don't see any Test proven opening batsmen out there, so you'll be back to putting an inexperienced opener into the Ashes battle. The investment in Lyth has been made. It's time that some patience is shown to see if that investment matures.

You can prove anything with averages...however he's opened in three Ashes tests and we've won two. That's a key stat, plus with an enforced bowling change and no obvious replacement, do you really want to mess around the top order whilst making changes in the bowling? He's due another big innings, I reckon we win the toss on a good pitch at Trent Bridge, he bats all day and we eventually go 3-1 up in the series.

I think someone needs to have a word with Jos Butler though. In one-day matches, he bats very well. In Test matches, he is scratching around. It's almost as though he feels as though he has to bat 'in a certain' way in Tests. He should go out and bat in a similar way as to how he bats in one-day games. Not the same obviously, but he should be more aggressive when batting in Tests.

Yeah, but we didn't win the toss and bat, so what's your point? He scored more than any Australian batsman and equalled their top scorer (extras)...on that pitch, what more do we ask of him?
