No player of ours seems to divide opinion quite as much as Chris Lines...
For me, he is a very good player who we have to thank for our promotion last season. But for others, he is a luxury player that we carry and whom offers little.
So, which is he for you?
I really am intrigued to know the response to this poll. Vote away chaps!

Isn't there a more "in-between option?" Decent player for me, wouldn't niche him as class or unnecessary, but I think he has a role to play. DC has shown he can manage situations and players so I believe he can be an asset.

I'm with Roscoe.
I think he is a good player but I also feel he doesn't always offer as much as he could/should.
A middle ground option for me.

Whilst I completely understand the middle ground option, try and over emphasize your mutual opinion on him for the sake of the poll.
In truth, no man is ever sat completely on the fence..

I voted touch of class, but I'm somewhere in the middle too.
Very talented, but leaves us vulnerable in a 4-4-2.

But if your premise is that he divides opinion, and then you only offer extreme options, the poll will simply confirm your bias.

I think the overall majority want the third option.

I'm in the middle ground too. But if I had to err between 2 I voted for luxury player.

How does removing the option of being noncommittal lead people towards my opinion?

Lol, but that isn't the opinion of the fanbase I am trying to determine here. I think the fact that he divides opinion is a given, really no need for a poll to determine that! I just want to know where people stand with regards to his quality either way. If people genuinely can't decide either way then perhaps just don't vote? Also, Kieran, not sure why you are so concerned with a 3rd option? I think your opinion on him is very clearly in one of the two options already offered.

Not his biggest fan i must admit.
Yes he does have a touch of class, however his defensive abilities and non tackling abilities push me to the "Luxury player" option.

Im not concerned by a third option but the vast majority above clearly are and you have missed the point completely. The fact that more than one person (me) has said he is a luxury player defeats the purpose of why you started the poll. Now start the same poll for Sinclair or Mansell or Bodin ir McChrystal or Brown and how many luxury player votes do you reckon they'll get. You rate Lines, that is your opinion. I have given plenty of reasons why i think he is a luxury player and there is nothing you will do to change mine or others views. Poll or no poll

I am not trying to change your opinion Kieran. I am just trying to gauge how many people agree with you.
This is one player who people do seem to have very different opinions on, interests me how people can see different qualities in the same player. So I set up the poll. Simple as that.
I am not interested in getting into an argument about this to be honest. As you say, you have your opinion and I am certainly not trying to change it. I also have mine and I stand by mine.
Results of the poll not surprising to me so far. But still interesting.

I'm going to remove my vote.

I am not trying to change your opinion Kieran. I am just trying to gauge how many people agree with you. By presenting a false dichotomy?

@twertonkid To try and make you understand the point we are making: Imagine us doing the matchday prediction thread and offering the following options for your prediction: 1) A Rovers win 2) A Rovers lose And then saying we're not offering the opportunity to predict the draw as it's "non-committal" I totally get the point that you are trying to make, but in this context it's not really accurate as the outcome of the poll will not be a fair or accurate representation of the forum's opinion on Chris Lines - which is the entire point of the poll. People will - rightly - be torn between the two options. IMO that's not non-committal, it's just a fair reflection of their opinion on him. If you had an option for "not sure", then that would be non-committal!
