I think this will do him the power of good, he has years ahead of him and I hope they are with us, he is a bit young at heart and he will mature and settle down. This type of move might just focus his mind on the game of football, he has talent, talent will stay with him for ever.

As I had never watched Gaffney I was not in a position to say what sort of player he was but questioned why we were borrowing a player who couldn't get into a side in the lower reaches of the same division, rather than looking at players from a higher division, never claimed to know everything, only ome man can do that and the Romans did for him. It was an opinion pure and simple, and lets be fair DC doesnt get them all right Lower reaches??? When we took Gaffney on loan, there were just 3 points between the two teams...... and we were lower mid table hence Cambridge were below os in the lower reaches of the division

Although I think exiling him to Hartlepool was a bit extreme I think a loan spell is the right move for Ellis at this time. Ellis has always divided supporters and many would say his naive behaviour does him no favours, but lately his detractors have been voicing their feelings and giving him a hard time on here and on the terrace. Ellis is only 21 and probable an immature 21 at that, I think the relentless criticism must have an effect on him. Maybe away from here Ellis can be judged by what he does on the field. See my above link to B Post article, EH clearly decided to make the move himself. But the manager does not have to accede to his request,he is a contracted Bristol Rovers player and as such if DC had wanted him to stay all he had to do was say no,thats what managers do

Not managers with DC's fabled man-management skills, though, eh?

Ellis turned Newport down in favour of Hartlepool, thought being from the area he would have went there. I thought I read/heard that DC chose Hartlepool (i.e. it wasn't Ellis' decision on who he could join - Hartlepool were chosen and his only decision was to go there or stay here) It was what the Newport manager said, it was in the south wales Argus.

Oh right. I imagine we just turned down the bid and he maybe assumed Ellis didn't want to come? Or perhaps NH accepted the offer (amongst several others inc. Hartlepool), DC then picked Hartlepool and NH told Newport Ellis would be joining Hartlepool. That may have the led Newport to believe EH had turned them down when it was in fact DC that selected Hartlepool?

Perhaps he thought a move away from Bristol/S Wales would do him the world of good?

See my above link to B Post article, EH clearly decided to make the move himself. That comment was slightly tongue in cheek to be honest, That said I don't believe Ellis actually chose to go to Hartlepool specifically. As I understand it Ellis wanted more game time so DC offered him a loan at Hartlepool and Ellis agreed to go there.

Harlepool 1-0 down and no shots on target so far but
31:32 Ellis Harrison (Hartlepool United) hits the left post with a header from the centre of the box following a corner
