We really aren't learning the lessons from our history. It would be interesting to know the age split of voters as I am sure that those of us that experienced the very dark days at Eastville, turfed out without a home would want to hang on to the Mem as an asset, rather than jump back as someone else's tenants. Sell Mem , Own UWE stadium (or at least a majority/ controlling share) is the only viable way forward, if we are to move. Look at Coventry's difficulties at the RICOH. We'll see whether a mystery consortium comes forward, but I'll admit to a shift in my own opinion toward step-wise development of the Mem and looking at exploiting more off-field commercial opportunities as we develop. This is absolutely bang on the money. If our Directors had not decided to sell Eastville we would not have been later held to ransom as tenants in an increasingly dilapidated stadium and forced almost out of existence but in any case to play in a non league ground in a different city for 10 years!
If the club had remained in charge of their own destiny with Eastville as an asset we could have benefited from the land sales around it to Tesco and built a modern stadium of significantly greater capacity than we are looking at with the UWE. Our club would be a lot bigger and stronger than it is and the chances are that we would have played at much higher levels, even perhaps the highest level.
Absolutely NO to a sale to become tenants whether that be at the Mem, UWE or Twerton Park!
Our gates were down to three thousand and we could not afford to stay at Eastville even if we had owned it - we were forced to leave because of our debts. The lessons which everyone should learn is - (including this Country) to live without debt regardless of assets

As already quoted on here don't forget the past, we used to own Eastville and sold it and then rented it and we all know what happened there, whose to say it would not happen again i for one would rather stay put at least we would have more control over our future and i believe we could move forward, Bournemouth, Blackpool, Yeovil, Brentford,Burton to name a few have all played or are currently playing at a higher level than we have for sometime, it is how they are managed that makes a difference. UTG you think Ikea want to be at UWE? Who knows , if i was renting some land to someone, and they pished me off for whatever reason, i would bide my time and get rid of em as soon as i legally could, so although under different circumstances we have been down that route once before, and the chance of it happening again are probably a lot more likely in this day and age

Turning it back around....what if we had part-ownership with the provision to buy more at a future point? Yeah, possibly with the right partners and if we retained majority ownership. Not terribly sure I'd trust us to tie up a watertight contract that didn't allow us to get shafted though. And sadly that not just a witty aside, I genuinely have lost faith in our legal advisers. This thread poll is a straightforward either/or decision. Own the Mem, Rent UWE. Its amusing to see so many people willing to stretch things to suit because they really want a shiny new stadium. Hell, I want it as bad as the rest of us but not at any cost. If I'm honest I wasn't super sure about owning the stadium and renting the land its on either. Remember how important it was to us when we bought the Mem when the rugby club went bust? That seems no longer important to so many here since someone waved some pretty pictures at us and told us that we are doomed if we don't buy into it? There are other solutions. How about a ground share with our friends in Bath with the funny shape ball then Hugo
