The takeover has been going on since septemer the issues effecting BRFC such as relegtaion and then further relegation out the league, the failure as promised to publish a club review into the reasons for it. Further back the financial losses, the share re-issue that devalued the share scheme share % and constant managerial recuitment failures were also met with silence.
I would not have expected Brian and Ken to speak out about a takeover or confidential stadium issues but to never speak out on these failures but to suddenly start slagging off the old board as soon as they stand down leaves a sour taste. Thats my point. There is nothing brave or to be thankfull of in todays post in my opinion.
Ps thanks for the well thought out and constructive replies, take them all on board and appreciate we hae different views. Really glad to read them rather then just getting abuse

The difficult option of doing absolutely nothing? The same thing was happening when Kim Stuckey was in the role and at least he had the balls to tell them where to stick it. The worst thing of all was all the promises after relegation that went unfulfilled and they said nothing not a thing. I would happily see the supporters club sell their shares back to the club and re-invest the money as they see fit and the current board just hire a fans director or club ambassador. No point whatsoever in fans directors who sit silently whilst the club goes down the swanny. By remaining in post I guess that Brian was able to raise issues from supporters, even if responses were not forthcoming from the Board. Kim Stuckey was true to his principles, however did this achieve anything more for the fans than Brian and Ken have done? It raised awareness of the problems being faced and gave fans a chance to know the facts and deside how to deal with it.

Thanks Brian. Good to hear from you. I think claims of lack of integrity are a bit strong personally and I agree with TT's point. Them that did speak out probably had a brief period of self satisfaction and a feeling of high integrity but frankly zero influence on the running the club. It was always clear to me that fans, however represented had no actual power in running the club, and still don't today. We move forward and I am hopeful the fans' many voices will be heard through a range of channels. UTG

Brian Why didn't you speak out when you and Ken were being taken the p**s out of by Nick and Barry? We could all see it and i feel its a bit off only speaking out now they have gone. It shows a lack of integrity for me. I have to admit the way the supporters club sat back and let the old board take our club to the brink and failed to speak out at the issues around the share scheme and two tier board meetings left a real sour taste for me. Anyway i'm absolutely delighted the old board have left and every thing i have seen of the new board so far looks fantastic. I hope the supporters club can use this opportunity to evolve and improve as all other areas of the club do. I don't know about a lack of integrity. They were getting abuse on the boards, and around the club from many fans. It would have been p**s easy for them to blame the other directors. But what would that have achieved? Istm, although whether it was the right decision or not is entirely debatable, they took the more difficult option, and that, to me, shows integrity. Surely one of their jobs is to report issues back to the shareholders they represent?

The share scheme money bought us two fans positions on the board did it not?. As i said easy to post this now they have left, perhaps if they were honest during the last few years about the issues when they were happening it would have changed things. Anyway lets hope we never have to worry about being run but such types of people ever again. For what it's worth I agree with Dinsdale. As fans representatives on the board they should have spoken out. First privately at board level, raising whatever concerns they had about a two tier controlling board. Any threats ti have them removed would either have been bluff (call it) or genuine. If removed by the board they would then have had the right to inform the fans of the reasons. Would it have been better to be in the tent watering out, or out of the tent watering in? It depends on if the tent was on fire.

I too agree with Dinsdale to a point.
Obviously the equity directors meetings were I guess, primarily to discuss the stadium and the takeover. It was highlighted at the the of the takeover by WAQ and Steve Hamer that they were thankful for the expressed confidentiality of the negotiations by our board.
Clearly, this was a need to know situation, and as fans directors, they didn't need to know, so weren't involved. These meetings were also more important than standard board meetings, for example getting the Al'Qadi family on board was far more important than discussing pasty suppliers and the like. so whilst I can understand their frustrations as they didn't know the full implications of these meetings, I do find it a little sour for BSS to state his point of view now. Especially when essentially, the old board have delivered good plans for a new stadium where all supporters issues we have now will be dissolved and secondly, ensures a sale to a group of people that now can take our club to the next level by investing in it and building what they could not afford not to do without sainsburys or another corporate partner.
As for not speaking up in board meetings, as directors, and I've sat of directors meetings working for major PLC's, you should always state your opinion, even if it's not listened to, it will be minuted by the secretary and therefore, can be referred back to. Not speaking up for fear of losing your position, shows a lack of leadership. If you don't feel you can speak freely, then why not step aside rather than continue in a role you feel you cannot influence.
However, BSS has done good things in the past, I've also found him to be an approachable and amenable person who takes the time to listen and talk to people. Hopefully, now he is more in the loop and maybe with greater encouragement to speak freely to the new board and with the money to improve a few things he will feel more courage to speak up and have confidence things will get done.
Thank you for your support so far BSS and if you read this, please see it as constructive criticism.

Brian as a person is a lovely man and he works hard on match days to be available and also to help fans with problems, totally respect and thank him for that. Us finding new and exciting owners does not re-write the past and during the Higgs era Brian, Ken and BRSC never spoke out against the board not even once.
To do so now is very easy to do, to do so when we were being badly run would have been the principled and decent thing to do.

Why? Surely better for BSS to fight from within than speak up and then be shown the door as surely would have happened.
As fans we've been to laid back to have done anything even if BSS had spoken out, so he would have been the only loser if he had spoken out.

Looking at it another way what would have happened if we lost the Appeal and NH had quit if the Al-Qad's having looked at the UWE plans thought it was a non starter financially?

He is a fans director, Ken is a fans director, BRSC represent the supporters. All of them failed to do the right thing by the supporters during the worst era in our history which was to openly challenge the failures at the club. I wont forget that for a long time. Brians post is at least 3 years too late.

And that's why people don't join the Share Scheme!
Complete and utter contempt shown by the board (custodians) & those that represent the fans!
Akin to politicians!

I care because i paid loads into the share scheme for the supporters to have representation at board level. We signed a few players with that money too Agogo springs to mind.
KM and BSS worked for us not Higgs

BSS is a top bloke. He asked to have a pint with me and my mate in our relegation season and I was really impressed with him. I think like us though first and foremost he is a fan. I would have no idea of what to say at board meetings.
At the time he did tell me that Chris Beardsley is a striker with pace who would improve us and although hindsight is a wonderful thing if this is what our directors thought this is fairly indicative of why we got relegated.
Thankfully we now have blokes like DC and Yatesy who know football and it seems the board will listen to them. From what I have heard from the new owners BSS will be a good fit with them and I look forward to BSS and KM serving us more effectivley from now on. A ll of us should now wipe the slate clean and enjoy what will be the best ever time to be a Gashead.
UTG!!!
