One of the admins has said on the Independent Forum that they may soon be migrating to a new platform. I have commented on there that this would be an ideal opportunity to unify all Gasheads under one forum. No takeovers, no hijacking, all new members on one unified forum. Plenty of room for all opinions. No censorship by the Board. Loads of opinions. Loads of argument. Loads of naked butts. No history. Just start afresh. Bristol Rovers Fans Forum (2014). What do the members here think of this idea? I would post the relevant bits if I could, but they don't seem to copy across from that forum to this. For those interested or those who haven't seen it, see this: z13.invisionfree.com/Bristol_Rovers_Alt/index.php?showtopic=2218&st=30Sorry if this isn't a direct link. Can't work it out.

It would make perfect sense to unite under one independent forum

IMO a lot on the Independent forum are the reason why the OS Forum got shut down so I say leave them on their with their watering and moaning if you to many people on one forum then your going to get times where posts and threads go unnoticed.

Such watering and moaning as ypu put it have been calls for the club To look at its self and change Since relegation the club have decided it needs a review as things have gone wrong and mistakes made. The kind of stuff that has beenpointed out for years. Lets not forget Kev Spencer was banned for his criticisms, but it seems now that the board have unwittingly supported Kevs criticisms. Perhaps he had a point all along Whether they actually change anything remains to be seen. All our welcome on the IF, but you have to get stuck into it and give back.

I think any forum that doesn't offer a fair and balanced platform for ALL Rovers fans is doomed to fail.
I won't agree with every post on here but this place needs posters who are challenging and who are happy to be challenged.
I see some very good posters on the IF and I would love it if they would post here too. It's easy to dismiss what they say because a few posters have a Blame the Board attitude.
Likewise, because we like Player Ratings and guess the crowd, that doesn't make us idiots.
Good forums have good balance and sadly the hear no good, see no good/hear no evil, see no evil attitudes are prevailing.
There is good at Rovers but also something terribly wrong.
If we fail to look at both our own review of the club is as distorted and ridiculous as the Boards.

Sorry I meant the general watering and moaning even about positive things not just relegation, one thread was about not wanting to move from The Mem to The UWE I meant whats that all about its the only good thing that's happened to us lately but yes you do have to get stuck into it and give some back not sure I can be bothered to argue for to long though

Each to their own I say.i found the IF a bit like wading through porridge and too time consuming to read all the posts which many were very very lengthy ones. Some like it some like this one,I don't see that as a divided fan base just a personal choice as anyone can join either or both and anyone can just read both as a non member.Lets be honest, many of the threads on here would quickly become lost in any merger and as it has all the features (and more) of the old OF the 2 forums will smoothly run side by side just like before the OF closure in my opinion.

I would like to see one large forum personally.
I like aspects of this one and the IF, my problem is i enjoy debating etc with so many old OF users and now to do so i need to look at at least two forums, sadly i just haven't got time, so i'm kind of left in limbo.
I'm gonna have one final effort at getting the OF re-opened, i genuinely feel it played a big part in many Gashead's Rovers Experience.
Closing it was futile imo. Many Gashead's used it for information, it was a huge link to the OS, it promoted items through debating offers, it forged friendships etc, etc
I think only now, nearly two weeks since the closure are some of us now realising what a small part of our lives it was, i know that sounds sad, but i think it had so many positives, that they massively outweighed the negatives.

I find it interesting how many are talking about uniting the fan base when the aptly named independent forum was launched whilst the OF was still going. That speaks unity about as much as the comments they all made about us OF users on there. That's not a good advert for any kind of unity.
I'm sorry but I really do not understand the intentions of some people to be honest.
If you want to launch an independent platform to unite the fanbase then fine, go for it. This forum is for people that want to talk about Rovers and nothing more. If you do so, have your own forum if you like so likeminded people can come together and talk about it if they wish.
I think this whole this forum that forum nonsense has gone far enough to be honest. I'm not interested in joining any independent group. I just want to talk Rovers and go and watch and support. Call me a happy clapper, a sheep, clueless, a board sympathiser if you like. People on the IF have been calling me just that for a long time.
This is a place for people to come and talk about Rovers. Nothing more. Nothing less.
If people want to post, they will. If this forum dies a death then so be it. I honestly don't care any more. Those who are motivated to take action can do it somewhere else. I'm sure if its a popular idea people will flock to join.
Don't know what else to say to be honest. People keep going on about a united forum. So go and make one just like I made one where we can just be around friends and talk about Rovers because that's all a forum is to me and that's what we have here now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, GasChat is where I'll lay my hat. All the mods have worked hard on this and for no other reward except for bringing all us Gas Heads together once more. 4,000 miles from home but I'm still not too homesick because of the efforts of the people that've built this forum. I love and thankyou for that. Cheers. UTG!

Do what you will and those interested will join. Hell, I may even join myself if I like the cause. I just wanted a place to talk Rovers with friends Jon. That's all. Turns out that may have been a mistake. It was never my intention to become entangled in politics or 'split a fanbase'. I just wanted to salvage something from the wreck of the OP. Build it and they will come I'm sure. I really never wanted any of this. I'm not a player or an activist. I'm just one guy who enjoyed talking Rovers and wanted to continue to do so. That's it. Feel like shutting the place down to be honest.

Feel like shutting the place down to be honest. Exactly, ME TOO! As i said last week, those twats have dealt a blow by shutting the OF, here's the proof, We're all over the place. The FFS is at present basically fooked. I feel the same as you Ras, we can't win at the moment, a great band of Forumers are splintered , some lost forever, some here, some there. Maybe it will settle down and work out fine, but your last statement mate - That's how it is when you try to do something, no reward, problems all the way, some happy/some not, hours of your own time etc. I feel for you i really do. You can't win!
