If last season BRFC sold 3526 season tickets and the average crowd was 8096 that means on average 4570 pay on the day or early bird ticket it. If all the seats in the West and East stand sell out that would make our current season ticket sales at about 6129. Therefore if the same average pay on the day people turn up on average the average HOME crowd will be 10,699. With most teams in league one bringing a reasonable away following we will be looking at 11,000 average crowds. That means EVERY GAME is going to be all ticket matches. So be prepared to miss out on a few home games next season if you can't get a ticket quickly. Whilst I can see the logic in your thinking, I doubt we will average the sort of attendances unless we are near to or at the top of the table for most of the season. I suspect that the increased season ticket sales will come from the regular pay on the day or early-bird fans. They are committed fans anyway, and may decide to buy a ST to avoid disappointment if we do well. There should be a few more away fans for most games, some clubs will bring the maximum. With a few more casuals attending I can see us averaging up to 9000 if we have some success. Results will be a big influence, I'm sure a succession of 5-0 home defeats will see even season ticket holders stay away I'm sure. I will take a look at the crowds for the last three seasons and remove the final run in games and see what those averages are and whether they are higher just by the division the team are in.Which I suspect will be the case.If the current assumed 6000+ tickets are sold then that is higher than the seasonal averages for quite a few rovers seasons over the !ast 30 years...and thats without away fans and pay on the dayers. What we do know is All the boxes have been sold for the season. It is expected all the available east stand seats will be sold all season It is expected all the available west stand seats will be sold all season It is expected all west terrace places will be sold all season. There may be 1000 north terrace p!aces available each game. There may be 400 family terrace places available each game. There may be upto 400 south stand seats available each game ( though this may be a lot less) There is most likely to be most tickets available for the east terrace which is open to the elements 1500 maybe. When season ticket sales have increased so have pay on the day numbers ,though I would like to find out the season ticket sales since rovers have been at the mem.

They don't need to be new fans.....you are assuming the average 4570 pay on the day fans are the same 4570 fans turning upto every game. This is rarely the case ,it is A random 4570 from the 7500 minimum different people who attended games but were not season ticket holders. It is fair to say that within that 4570 there is a core thatgo to most games and it is mostly those who have bought season tickets this year. There may also be people who only attended the last few home games and got the buzz and decided to get season tickets. The same motion action that encourages people to get a season ticket will also encourage more pay on the dayers at the start of the season...it's upto DC and the team then to persuade them to keep coming.

I like your enthusiasm though and im looking forward to visiting a much fuller mem next year either way.

Maybe not new fans, but fans who are embracing the feel good factor surrounding the club. Therefore it could be argued that your logic is flawed. I have a season ticket for the coming season but did not attend many at all last year: As a point of interest: I realised that I related things to the club, as opposed to the team: Methinks this is, whether we like it or not, the way that football is going nowadays: .e., it is more in the commercial value of teams, than true history: Look at Blackburn, Blackpool, for instance, a great history yet have been a joke for most football supporters for many years (the teams were chosen for the relative youngsters amongst us, who may not remember Blackburn being Premier League Champs))

When a club hits rock bottom only the faithful and true continue to go and support its the same at any club and to be fair we were still getting 5k + attendances at that point. I'm glad attendances are improving.

If my decision to buy my first ever season ticket makes me a glory hunter and wateres you off, well, sorry about that too. In truth, we all have stuff that gets in the way of going to matches: money, distance, work, family...very few of us get to every game and when we are weighing up whether to go or not, the quality of the football will play a part. The alternative is that our attendances stay the same forever.

Yeah, those plastic glory hunters who just lap up the limelight and mindless kudos of pretending to support a League 1 team, when all they're really interested in is lording it over their mates who all support conference teams and bathing in the reflected glory of such a high-profile and desirable club. They're everything that's wrong with modern football.

Plus if 8,000 turn up each game is there little incentive on the club's owners to improve the league position/sell up so perhaps the stay away fans actually did the regular fans a favour??

Bristol Rovers closing in on ambitious season ticket sales target BRISTOL Rovers are closing in on their ambitious 5,000-season-ticket-sales-target some two months before the new campaign gets under way. The club have confirmed that 4,620 tickets had been sold by the end of May – a 31 per cent increase on total sales last summer – and the best figure for well over a decade. "Some people thought I was being overly-optimistic when I targeted a figure of 5000 towards the end of last season," said chairman Steve Hamer. "The historical figures didn't suggest that we'd get anywhere near it. Sales are just indicative of how spirits have been lifted around the place as a result of what has been happening both on and off the pitch over the last few months. Read more: Bristol Rovers star striker Matty Taylor wanted by Championship side Wigan Athletic "There is also the anticipation of what is to come for us in League One next season. I know that Darrell has really got his head down and is working hard on a recruitment plan that will improve the team even further. We are all looking forward to the new season and it can't come quick enough for all of us." The last time Rovers secured promotion to League One, in 2007, they sold 3511 season tickets for the following season - a 34 per cent like-for-like increase on 2006/07. Rovers endured dips in their figures in the seasons that followed recent relegations. In 2011, the drop in sales from 3082 to 2904 was fairly insignificant and held up by the prospect of a brighter future and a season fighting for promotion following the appointment of Paul Buckle. Read more: Former Bristol Rovers legend Jamie Cureton is looking for a new club after departing Dagenham The figures recently released are in line with healthy matchday attendance increases as Darrell Clarke has built a side that has enjoyed back-to-back promotions in the last two years. Rovers broke the 10,000-barrier in five of their 23 league fixtures at the Memorial Stadium last season as they welcomed 186,218 supporters through the turnstiles. The average match-day attendance of 8096 (up 22 per cent) was the highest at the Memorial Stadium since an average of 8,402 came through the turnstiles in 1999/00 and is the second highest in the 20 years since Rovers took up residence at the Memorial Stadium in 1996. Looks like we are on target for 5k sales at least then. I'm sure there's a few still waiting to see which players sign the contracts on offer ( ie our top scorer MT) and the players DC can attract in the coming weeks.

And it could be even higher as these figures are based on the end of May. My understanding is that the D.D's from stand seats came out of bank accounts on June 1ST. However: with a bank holiday lots of payments didn't come out until 2nd or 3rd. I know Bath Rugby and Gloucestershire Cricket wait 14 days for a final count up before releasing actual sales and the amount for general sale ( Bath Rugby). So who knows ?. Another few hundred could of been added and it might take a full 14 days to determine what stand seats are left. And how do Direct debits work with stand seats ?. I know with my many D.D's the responsibility is on me to cancel. The club could still be working out who did what and when ! . And are the 2000 (approx) stand tickets gone or are there a few or loads ready to go on general sale
