I remember plenty of both promising and panic-inducing pre-seasons in years gone by. Most were no indicator of the coming season's fortunes. Untwist your knickers people!

Did Mildenhall look sharp ? it's worrying that Lockyer, Hartley and J Clarke have had very little game time - DC might have to get a loan CB in when he hadn't planned to.

The time to start worrying is if Cheltenham stuff us next week. Hopefully DC will put out a decent starting 11 in Sabadell, as it'll be a long way to go for fans just to see a hammering.

I wasn't there so couldn't comment, but my point was that pre-season performance is rarely an indication of what lies ahead. Especially when you're assessing our abilities vs premiership opposition.

Big worry injuries to Lockyer Hartley and J Clarke!!!! A L1 start without them makes defence look very frail. Their injuries have not really been commented on!! Any updates?

I wonder if DC shrugged his shoulders or gave them the hairdryer treatment?

Was told Lockyer has a groin injury so that could take a while to sort out BTW i enjoyed the game today - the gap was massive between the two teams Both new boys played well and we got a bit better 2nd half I fear for the beard this season, he was found out very quickly today.... can't pass a ball forward.....

To put it into some perspective, my lad told me the player who scored with the super free kick cost £24 million. That would very nearly build a new stadium.
Meanwhile, I was encouraged by Byron Moore. I think that he and Browner will maybe develop a good left sided combination this season. There were signs this afternoon, although they spent most of the game chasing shadows.
Decent attendance at over 4,500, and a good showing by Swans with just over 1,000.

Agree with this BTW it is being reported that Mustapha Carayol was at the game today, anybody spot him ?

thing is we have had 2 great friendly fixtures v villa and premier division swansea,i believe players learn plenty against such opposition but the down side is its possible to get a hammering just like west brom last season. dc never talks about injuries but it does appear that we have some unfit centre-halves which is a worry

To be honest it is not good to watch your team totally outclassed but that is exactly what we saw today. The worrying thing for me is that we kept the same style of play today as we have played the last two seasons- we don't mark at the back, we don't pass forward other than a big hoof from two centre halves who for two different reasons were out of their depth and first half we had Ollie Clarke and Sinclair in the middle of midfield and both are of League 1 ability at the best. Second half was a slight improvement but for me we should be building up for the first game and that means playing players together who are likely to start so they get an understanding. Sorry DC but you can't allow a good team to have possession at the back and your defence allow their players to move away from them and be left totally unmarked. The one thing it proved for me today is that we are at least three players short of quality even if everybody is fit and also it will only take a couple of injuries to defenders and we will be totally exposed by any of the Top 10 in league 1.
Big mistake retaining all of the playing squad but I hope I am proved totally wrong.

It is what it is and I am sure a few will move on pretty fast if DC thinks it's for the best. I should have also said, I think promotion was a bit of a shock for the new owners who thought they had at least another year to put things together.

Would we have gone on that run that got us promoted? Would we still be in league 2? We got beat by a good prem team, I ain't going to lose to much sleep over it, I suggest you take a couple Zopiclone tablet's, sounds like you need them.
