Yet again Steve Hamer was conspicuous by his absence. He was in his office all day but didn't seem to want to be involved with the fans yet again. It seems the only time he gets involved is when our President is there.
i thought it odd that he didn't even show when the player sponsors were thanked for their contribution to the club, the young pirates who again drew a blank etc etc etc.
With the farce about non delivery of the kids shirts, I thought the least he could do would be to draw the flack from the plebs, but no.
Thankfully our president is made of sterner stuff, and is a real people person, and he really is the one that counts.

If you go to an open day/fun day expecting to "throw" flak you haven't really caught the spirit of what they are about.

When Dr. Samuel Johnson published "A Dictionary of the English Language", he was lauded by all of 18th Century England for his great work. On one occasion a group of women asked for an audience with him. On meeting him they declared "Dr. Johnson, we would like to applaud you on your refrain from using any foul or indecent words in your new dictionary". To which he replied "And ladies, I would like to applaud you for your constant search for them". UTG!

I think the Kids would prefer to meet Captain Gas and the players rather than Mr Chairman. 4 days to the big kickoff he's probably v busy. The waterants can wait, let them eat cake.

While I may not agree with the OP about the fun day i think it wise to take heed of the general flavour of his message.

It should have been on a weekend, not a working day.

Great chance for him to get on with details of signings/contracts etc. while the spotlight is elsewhere. Well played SH.

As a 'fun' day suggests it's more for the kids out there to meet the players and such, can't honestly believe any of the younger supporters either know or care who Mr. Hamer is, also I honestly can't even believe that the older supporters who were there would've been that bothered if at all that he didn't come out of his office and to say he didn't seem to want to be involved seems a bit presumptuous if you ask me, how do you know he didn't? I would imagine he's a very busy man at this time of the year and what real difference would it be to anyone if he was there? Just so a couple of people could have a moan about not being able to buy a shirt (which I will agree is a bit poor in this day and age) but everybody knew well in advance that this would be the case.
Just another chance to have a moan about something no matter what it is imo. Hurry up Saturday and then people can get back to moaning about the football at least and not searching for anything no matter how small to moan about.

I think this is a valid point, it's no good people giving flack for the comments that Gasincider has made when lets face it, NH was ripped apart for what in the end added up to ' he did not have enough money' . The new owner is easy to like because he has lots of money, SH is just a Chairman with not enough money...........Fire away !

It should have been on a weekend, not a working day. Si, can't argue with you on that. Although with the pre-season fixtures and tour to the sun, it was probably difficult to arrange it. Saturday could have been the answer, but hey-ho excrement happens

Very true, but people think he has lots of money, that makes him easy to like at this time.
