In the 3 times me and the Mrs have been there was no trace of Higgsy. I guess Steve Hamer was in the office working and allowing the players, manager and staff to be front, right and centre. I think there is some mischief going on here. I just can't see people queuein up and I think the comment about not being back under his tenure is very tongue in cheek unless I am mistaken. I guess a few are being caught out hook line and sinker on this. Pits been a couple of years since I used the old forum so I need to get a feel for this un but I do think that post was harking back to the Kev spencer ban times. You can't mention him, it's a bit like saying Corbyn is a fool, you get 1000's of emails telling of your death in most horrible ways. I don't know the bloke but I do remember my uncle and others using the I won't be back until he's gone line

As a 'fun' day suggests it's more for the kids out there to meet the players and such, can't honestly believe any of the younger supporters either know or care who Mr. Hamer is, also I honestly can't even believe that the older supporters who were there would've been that bothered if at all that he didn't come out of his office and to say he didn't seem to want to be involved seems a bit presumptuous if you ask me, how do you know he didn't? I would imagine he's a very busy man at this time of the year and what real difference would it be to anyone if he was there? Just so a couple of people could have a moan about not being able to buy a shirt (which I will agree is a bit poor in this day and age) but everybody knew well in advance that this would be the case. Just another chance to have a moan about something no matter what it is imo. Hurry up Saturday and then people can get back to moaning about the football at least and not searching for anything no matter how small to moan about. In the 3 times me and the Mrs have been there was no trace of Higgsy. I guess Steve Hamer was in the office working and allowing the players, manager and staff to be front, right and centre. Think you may have quoted the wrong post mate, because that makes no sense to me or anything that I wrote on my post. Unless you're saying that the op was made tongue in cheek which I'm 99% sure it wasn't.

I will have to look but I think one of the posts said something about not bringing their kids under Steve Hamers tenure. Surely that has to be tongue in cheek

This was the post I was quarrying but it was on another thread. Jesus, shifts are not doing me any good. Sorry grayraydonThere was a queue of disappointed children outside his office door waiting to shake his hand and he didn't appear. I heard some parents say it would be the last time they would take their children to the Memorial Stadium during his tenure.

To be honest we could have had the fun day Sunday and played Chelts on Monday. It's just that they thought they would get a bigger gate on Sunday. They had over a 100 pasties left over at the Blackthorn end. So, that didn't work did it.

Took my little one down to the fun day yesterday; got to meet all the players. Linesy signed his shirt, Mansell signed the cast on his leg, Lockyer signed his crutches, Lee Brown signed the tattoo he's got of his face on his back, Macca gave him a hug, Mattee signed his Rovers football and Easter posed for a snap. All good and well I hear you say. Pffft - SHAMBLES. My lad is devastated. The players mean nothing to my boy. It's all about Steve Hamer. He's always supported him throughout his career and when he joined the Gas as chairman he was in a state of euphoria for about 3 weeks. His room is adorned with pictures of "our Steve" as he's become affectionately known. He's currently saving for a "Hamer sleeve" or something like that; reckons he's gonna get "Steve's story" documented down his arm. He's also changed his name by deed-pole to Steve and on Saturday I took a delivery for a life-sized doll of Mr Hamer. God knows what that's for. So imagine my utter disgust when I find out that Steve f**king Hamer is nowhere to be seen at the fun day. I tried to console my lad but he's locked himself in his room since we got home yesterday and I'm now in work today having not been able to get a single minutes sleep last night due to the noise of him crying coming from the next room. I've booked him in with a therapist for this Friday but - between you and me - I'm not sure he'll ever recover from this. Hamer - if you're reading this - you sir are a f**king disgrace and an embarrassment to this football club. Hang your head in shame. Fun Day?! It should be renamed to "Don't Bother Coming Because Your Day and Your Life Will Most Probably be Ruined Through Sheer Disappointment and Unparalleled Misery Day". Livid. This wins the forum. Let's just shut it down now.

Threads like this happen when someone isn't fed "itk" stuff anymore. RIP Gasincider. I think that there are 2 ITK's who regularly come on this forum, that have had their noses pushed out of joint. It is sad.

TBH i'm quite chuffed that we are this close to the season kicking off and there are only a few moans on the forum, christ look back a year or so there were enough complaints to wipe out the rain forest if printed ,this year a few minor gripes, so yes the new regime has indeed made some positive changes I just put the question to Wend about not speaking to the chairman her reply was so what i had a natter with daryl and the players, spoke to matteee, (or in the words of metallica nothing else matters) . I think most were there to speak to the boss and players ,natter with fans new n old. I'm sure for those with a chairman fetish( ) , there will probably be a q&a at some point
