What questions would you like raised with the Board at the Open Fans Forum?Like many fans I am extremely disappointed with the actions of the Board of Directors of Bristol Rovers 1883 Ltd in closing down the club forum. In effect the BoD has destroyed a well-used online club community and communication life-line. The latest appeasement "Follow us across multiple platforms" is in my view a laughable sop to long suffering fans. Now is perhaps the time to start identifying the many searching questions that should be directed to the Board at the Open Fans Forum meeting. 1. Does the Board properly understand that by closing the Official Club Forum they have inflicted huge damage, alienation and fractures across the club's fan base that may take years to repair? 2. Everyone is accountable for the club's demise from the Board Member to the long-suffering supporter. It is questioned by concerned supporters that some Board members are not pulling their weight. What steps are being taken to properly assess the contribution of those represented on the Board and if necessary clear out any "dead wood" and reinvigorate the BoD with those that possess the necessary management and communication skills and at the same time have an appropriate level of financial backing? 3. What measures are being taken to properly review the whole management structure of the club including the possibility of appointing a Chief Executive? Does the club staff and directors have the skills to properly conduct an "in-house review" or should outside consultants be appointed who can conduct a more neutral, unbiased and balanced assessment? I am sure that others can improve the above questions and add many more that are of much greater substance. I will copy this post on some of the other forums in order to encourage as wide as possible debate. It is such a great shame that we are now so split up and diluted.

1. At any stage last season was the club under any FFP/SCMP restrictions?
2. What legal advice did the club receive to cause them to shut down the Official Forum?
3. Has the club been unable or simply unwilling to refute the rumours about 'player misconduct' during this past season?
Whilst I don't want to sound cynical, you might as well have titled the thread 'what questions will the board never give a straight answer to...'

One thing for sure Dave is that they will read the these threads with great care. The more questions we ask - the more unsettled some Directors will become when their inadequacies are being challenged.

But it will probably put them into an even more intense denial/self-protection phase though, as it's a long list!

Great post mate.
Personally:
Firstly, can we say we appreciate all the hard work you put in and of course the investments you continue to put into the club, the only reason for our questions is because we care, and would like to think in a small way we can help. Our support and attendance is a given.
Why has the board conducted a top to bottom review of itself? (Turkeys don't vote for Christmas)
Can we afford a Chief Executive Officer?
You have stated each Director has been given a role, what are the roles of each Director?
With respect, constant failings mean it's not working, if i decorated my home and it consistently ended up looking poor, i would eventually employ a Professional to get the job right, not keep going up B & Q, buying more products and keep getting poor results.
What is being done about our constant injury problems, we appear to be jinxed, does the system need looking at? Who does our Medical assessments before signing players? Do they require scrutiny?
Do we have a footballing philosophy that starts with the youngsters all the way through to the first team?
Can you improve on the communication with supporters more?
Would you set up a supporters register, to include fan engagement, as well as updating supporters on news, offers etc?
Why was The Official Forum closed? You cannot penalise the masses if a few people behave badly(post libelous comments). Would you close The Mem if ten people kept running on the pitch?

The one in bold is the one I would most like the answer to though.

It would be great to to get Darrell Clarke's view on this issue. Perhaps Darrell can also confirm whether he was responsible for "fitness training" last season and whether he managed (or did not manage) to get the squad into reasonable shape?

In May 2011 (i have the quote but not to hand) Mr Higgs said upon relegation to league two mistakes had been made and we would learn. What mistakes were these and what did we learn and what new mistakes have we now made that we need to learn from?
Did we learn anything at all?
Given Kevin Spencer was banned for his criticism and on the face of it they now appear justified, will you be lifting his ban with immediate effect?

4. Why did the club publicly admit it hadn't begun planning for relegation before the relegation actually happened?

4. Why did the club publicly admit it hadn't begun planning for relegation before the relegation actually happened? yes what a ridiculous example of short sightedness. Relegation is not an option was all they could come up with. Basically, we havent thought about it, we havent accepted it could happen, we havent planned for it. Everyone could see it had been coming for years.

I can answer that one,no we clearly don't but it would be great if we did,or at least someone at the club was looking into going down that path and also let the fans know about it as well.Clear communication on all matters would be a positive start, surely the fans should get that as a minimum.

Other clubs have also had the misfortune to be relegated out of the Football League to the Conference. Those clubs have first hand experience in facing the financial perils of dropping into Non-League Football.
What measures have the Board taken to communicate with the other unfortunate relegated clubs to learn at first hand from their experiences: the financial limitations that must be faced: the difficulties of player recruitment; the impact on youth and community schemes; the management structures that are best geared to life out of the Football League; and much more.

You have said mistakes have been made and lessons learned. What are they?
Please name the mistakes and specificly say what you have learned with clear examples.

In their management review have the Board properly determined how clubs (such as Accrington Stanley and Dagenham & Redbridge) with far less in terms of resources have been able to out-perform Rovers and retain their League 2 status with ease? What lessons have the Board learnt (if any)?

The current board saw the club relegated put of the football league. The biggest disaster this club has faced in the best part of a century. So far we have seen no boardroom changes and changes at the club have been both minor and sparse. What large changes can the fans expect to see in the coming weeks as a result of such mismanagement and the conclusions drawn as part of the promised review that saw us relegated to conference football?

One of the key issues that has been raised as a reason for our demise has been the (almost complete) failure of our scouting system. It is clear that not only do we need to identify the very best players available in Non-League Football but also maintain an efficient scouting network covering all age groups. How do the Board propose to restore some efficiency and pride into our scouting network? A related issue is the need for a prompt and courteous response to fan-led recommendations?
