One of the key issues that has been raised as a reason for our demise has been the (almost complete) failure of our scouting system. It is clear that not only do we need to identify the very best players available in Non-League Football but also maintain an efficient scouting network covering all age groups. How do the Board propose to restore some efficiency and pride into our scouting network? A related issue is the need for a prompt and courteous response to fan-led recommendations? Just to carry on with your theme Finnish,do we have anything at all in this dept?i don't know the man but Gashead Wes from the IF appears to have an in depth knowledge of non league football, nobody can be judged by a few youtube highlights alone but how much would it cost the club to get somebody out to actually watch some of these players in action?

This was my recommendation from a couple of years ago to Rovers: ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: ........... To: "youth@bristolrovers.co.uk" <youth@bristolrovers.co.uk> Sent: Friday, 2 March 2012, 18:13 Subject: Recommendation - Connor Washington (St Ives Town)
Hi
I note that you are looking for spotters. I am based in the East Anglia area and follow Bury Town, Team Bury (the West Suffolk College Academy team) and attend a host of matches of other teams around the region. These are mostly senior games but Team Bury are an Academy team of 16-18 year olds playing in the Ridgeons League / Eastern Counties League Division 1.
With around 30 matches attended this season only one player has really stood out. St Ives Town have a talented 19 year old striker called Connor Washington that Rovers would do well to send a scout along to assess. He is exceptionally fast, has very good ball control and lays the ball off well. Has the ability to outrun the opponents defence but final shot could be better (although did score two goals in a recent Vase natch I attended against Gresley). He is around 5ft 10ins with good upper body strength.
A "possible" is a young left-sided defender in the West Suffolk College Academy that has had a few outings in the Bury Town first team - Connor Hall.
Kind regards
........

Connor Washington - now with Peterborough United (having been transferred for a fee from Newport County) Connor Hall - now with Cambridge United (but out for a season with a serious injury) Rovers have simply not been geared up to take on talented Non-League players from my (somewhat limited) experience. However others with much greater experience such as Gashead Wes appear to have been similarly rebuffed. The bottom line is what gems has our scouting system unearthed over the last few years? Nothing?

You know, Geoff Dunford seems to have an affinity to Duncan Bannatyne via Twitter. Would Geoff be maybe able to ask his friend to come and get involved in the review and make recommendations based on BEFC 1883 on a purely business model ? It seems silly not to utilise such friendships if you cannot call upon them for help. I see the the questions are being asked for BEFORE the meeting. I do not feel any confidence in this lot taking any questions that they will not be comfortable with and many will be given the stick reply of " we will not be fielding that at this time " or even. " we do not feel a need to answer that"

To be fair I think it is far better for the Board to be aware of our concerns - and to think about how they might respond to the issues properly - rather than them making glib "off the cuff" responses on issues that are thrown at them cold. You never know one or two of the issues we raise here they may decide to act upon before the Open Forum. That would not be a bad thing in my view.

Scouting improvements for young players can (in my opinion) take a back-seat until mid-season. Fitness, injury resistance, bringing in players who can fill gaps in the squad is the short-term fix required for me.

Fitness, injury resistance, bringing in players who can fill gaps in the squad is the short-term fix required for me. Issues of major concern to many supporters is lack of player fitness and poor resistance to injuries. This points to possible deficiencies in training techniques, physiotherapy and medical support (including initial assessment of players). What changes does the Board propose to make to address these issues.

By mid-June we want 20+ players on-board, all of whom are unlikely to break down in the next 12-24 months and all of whom are ready to start pre-season in ten days time.

Bristol Rovers Football Club have fallen into the abyss of Non-League Football under the custody of the current Board of Directors. What factors have the Board determined as contributing to the degeneration and regression of the club over the last 5 years? What remedial actions are the Board taking to ensure as far as possible a swift return to the Football League?

Also why have we not seen any real changes or intent yet? Exactly. All they've done is release some players, which they would have done anyway. Ward was on his way out so no surprise there. It's no real surprise either that it's all gone quiet. I imagine the carpet has already been lifted ready to try and sweep all of this under.

Our template Official Website is poor in the extreme and is a disappointment to most users who find the site slow, the navigation weak and the layout cluttered. What are the views of the Board on the website and their ability to provide a suitable replacement?

What are the views of the Board on the website and their ability to provide a suitable replacement? Will a replacement be forced upon us now? Only I thoght the current website was done by the same people as every other league club? Hence, is it for league clubs only?? In the same sense, I wonder if that will also spell the end of GasPlayer??

Hi Finnish, It would be great if that happened but I have learned to be cynical because of the disinformation, misdirection and falsehoods perpetrated by this lot. I cannot understand why they could not make any statement about the drug taking allegations just to put a stop to them and yet they chose to blame the bloody fans forum instead of dealing with it in a timely and professional manner. I am afraid that we have too many undisclosed payments, gagging orders in ex players & managers etc to have any integrity mate. They have shown themselves to be scared for some reason and truly paranoid when it comes to being able to communicate with it's own lifeblood. I see on Twitter that a few asked @geoffdunford if the review would be complete before the EGM. It took a good while before he responded with " there is much to do and we will take our time" Sorry, I just cannot take them seriously fella.

The more I learn Jools the more worrying the position becomes.
Why do the Board appear to be "so afraid to embrace change"?
Why is the Board unable to communicate to its fanbase an ability to plan strategically for the future of the club in an open and honest way?
The exception is of course the UWE Stadium initiative - a building project - as opposed to football club management issues.
