Please stop this talk! Promotion would be the worst thing to happen to us now. Consolidate in this league and then go for it over the next 2/3 years. Promotion this year would kill the club and good atmosphere we have at the moment. How would a promotion be the worst thing? What a bizarre thing to say. I hate the word consolidate, why not have ambition to do better? Nothing wrong with that The club isn't ready for promotion. We play in a joke of a stadium, have no quality training facilities and let's be honest will need a brand new squad. If we went up Let's get used to this league, develop our players, build the club up with the new training facilities and get a proper youth set up. And of course the new stadium. If we get promoted we will do a Yeovil and it will be embarrassing.

How do you put off getting promoted in football? I've always wondered. We haven't thrown the kitchen sink at getting promoted the past two seasons and we have done so. If the same looks like its happening this year do we start losing on purpose towards the end or...? Obviously we can't put off promotion but if we went up it would be terrible. We are miles away from competing in the Championship.

To be fair I did think of that Cardiff game when I was writing that. We'll never know the truth behind that but I shudder now thinking about it!

Hopefully the UWE will get the go ahead this season, new training facilities should also be up and running this season, squad wise Burton, who were a Div 2 team like us the season before last, and Barnsley who only sneaked up via the play offs are doing OK in the Championship I assume, based mainly on last season's squads, but oddly the promoted team seemingly with the best set up, Wigan, are bottom!! If we wait for a stream of youth players to come though from the new Academy then we may as well for ever, although until we start beating the likes of Sheff Utd you can't see we're contenders anyway.

Good question wouldn't mind knowing that myself I think the £71m Bournemouth earned from television rights last season helped a bit.

Ok someone has to vocalise the dream. You all know what I am talking about... If we could get three in a row, would that be a record? Has any team done 3? Would we lose Clarke, think so. I don't think any English league side has had 3 consecutive promotions so it would be a record, but one we are capable of breaking. As for Clarke I think he will stay as long as the club match his ambition.

So the three consecutive promotions would have to include all non league teams (down to what level ? )

i think promotion is a remote outside chance but its a nice dream. i think the standard so far in league 1 has been much higher than league 2 but we have a mostly young and improving group determined to do well at the higher level and that along with the new signings have helped us to cope so far.

Yeah it would kill the club if we went up,full house every game and a new stadium round the corner Bet DC and wael wouldn't think it will kill the club,Bournemouth get 30k crowds every week don't they? Never heard so much rubbish Bournemouth's Stadium is smaller than the mem, I'm sure they don't get 30k a week!

How would a promotion be the worst thing? What a bizarre thing to say. I hate the word consolidate, why not have ambition to do better? Nothing wrong with that Getting dicked every week, players wanting to leave a struggling team, manager may get sacked (yep even DC) etc. Obviously you would take promotion if you can and worry about the consequences later but there is a risk we could do something similar to what Yeovil did. More worthwhile to stay mid-challenging play offs for now. We could get relegated this season and DC wouldn't get sacked,so on earth DC would get sacked after 3 promotions in a row and going down from the championship is beyond me..

We would only have issues with the championship if we spent beyond our means.
Some teams decide not to spend in prem and just try to survive for the money.
If favour us getting promoted, getting the bigger money and employing people on reasonable money for a club the size of the gas, poss the same team. Good chance we would be relegated but with significantly better finance. Just focus on slowly developing the team regardless of the league, developing the club with no panic buying or selling.
3 promotions would raise the profile of the club a great deal. Lots of publicity and public support. Good story of rags to riches versus our corporate, big money rivals.....i would always take jam today rather than tomorrow.

Been saying this since for ages, although not sure my dream of four in a row will happen. Won't lose DC if we go up.
