A relegation followed by 4 promotions in a row as a record would stand the test of time and never get beaten. You just prepare for each season as it comes along, keep the players that can manage the next level and bring in some who already have. We're not here to languish, bring it on!

Yeah it would kill the club if we went up,full house every game and a new stadium round the corner Bet DC and wael wouldn't think it will kill the club,Bournemouth get 30k crowds every week don't they? Never heard so much rubbish What I want to know is how the hell do Bouremouth survive in the Prem on gates of 11,000 ? I know they've got a billionaire owner but ffp ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) £90 million from the Premier league this season for just being in it!

I doubt very much that we'd get the big spending from the board that we'd need to compete in the Championship. They've never promised to put big money into building a squad. As others have said, promotion now would be just a couple of seasons too soon, even though I think DC is capable of engineering it.

Turn the question around, "what would we need to make and stay in the Championship?"
Category 2 or 3 academy Training ground Stadium capable of hosting larger crowds and that allows for non match day revenue High quality commercial department to maximise sponsorship, good will, publicity, etc Squad of 25-30 players, of which around half are Championship or top League 1 standard with the rest as backup for injuries, suspensions, competition (opinions here would be appreciated)
Anything else?
All of which is achievable within 6-12 months (2 transfer windows) except the stadium which will be at least a further one season away after this one.
Can be done, doing it is the difficult bit. Remember though, there is little that is impossible given time, money and effort.
Could be an interesting January transfer window if we are in the top 10, would be a sign of intent. Still plenty of matches to go before then, though.

Getting dicked every week, players wanting to leave a struggling team, manager may get sacked (yep even DC) etc. Obviously you would take promotion if you can and worry about the consequences later but there is a risk we could do something similar to what Yeovil did. More worthwhile to stay mid-challenging play offs for now. We could get relegated this season and DC wouldn't get sacked,so on earth DC would get sacked after 3 promotions in a row and going down from the championship is beyond me..
It happens though however impressive a manager was previously, the thought of relegation and the desperation to avoid it makes a lot of boards/owners take drastic measures.
In some cases of managers achieving unexpected promotion the Premiership, the promotion signed their own death warrant and they would have been better off challenging in the Championship.
We would have to spend big just to survive in the Championship imo, the foundations are not in place to do that currently. Once the ground is finalised we can progress further as a club.

The 'teds usually struggle in the Championship and that's despite having much bigger gates, funded by one of the wealthiest blokes in the area and spending millions on players and wages.
At the moment its not worth it, yes you see a lot nicer grounds but that doesn't really matter when you are getting thumped every week. The Championship is a Premiership wannabe playground that will swallow up any money you have just to stay there.
Its an entertainment business, as long as i'm still being entertained i'll be happy where we are. We just have to make sure we don't get relegated so one eye will have to be on the playing side.

I think the talk of 'consolidation' in any division would see DC leave the club. He is not interested in consolidating anywhere. He wants to continue to improve both the team and himself. Can you imagine him staying if he is told to consolidate in mid-table for a couple of years?

Please stop this talk! Promotion would be the worst thing to happen to us now. Consolidate in this league and then go for it over the next 2/3 years. Promotion this year would kill the club and good atmosphere we have at the moment. The dressing room will think we can gain promotion. The manager will expect us to be in top 7 come end of the season. It certainly would be ground-breaking if we were promoted again.
